It's got an odd sort of structure to it, but it's utterly striking.

Christine and the Queens - Chris (album)

On the one hand: Guardian-friendly gender pop

On the other hand: a summer-fresh modern version of France Gall's "Ella, elle l'a" in album length. I advise listening to the french version, because her english is making me nervous.

My candidate for best song of the year:

Really nice. Wants to make me listen to her debut album again,  especially I loved "Christine":

Can't stand Christine and the Queens.

Anyone need some alarm clock suggestions? Although I'd just end up putting them on snooze to listen again.

This used to be our alarm clock.

When I was a kid I used to have a dinosaur alarm clock which roared loudly as an alarm. That worked far too well...

My phone comes with one of those ones you have to solve a puzzle to turn off. By the time you've done that the desire to snooze is gone knowing you've got to solve the bloody puzzle again! The puzzle are easy but first thing in the morning? Not so much.

Sounds like your phone should be on trial in the Hague.

This song's quite beautiful. I must stress that I only listened to it and didn't watch the video of Bryan Ferry, I find him a creepy looking fucker.

Lovely song, skillfully covered by Bill Murray.

I'm not habitually a big subscriber to the Motown sound. But this was, is and will always be utterly superb.
