I dunno about that, ffv, according to an interview in November 2004, she was described as "Still elegant, healthy and sharp-witted"

It may yet be a while before she's Gone with the Wind... :o

I actually met her last year and she's still a babe and still in full control of here faculties. I think, baring an unfortunate StairMaster incident, that she'llprobably last the year...

Hope so, charming lady :-)

Joan Fontaine i bealive is about 90 now she could make a fairly good deathlist participent for 2006. Though she is said to be in fair health.

How anyone with a functioning brain can drop in here and state with certainty that anyone will live a long time is beyond me. There's enough evidence of sudden misfortune and danger to remind a rational person that we're all in The Grim Reaper's lottery.

I just received a wonderful two-page letter and several signed items from 89-year-old Mme de Havilland on Oct 13. She is very much alive as is her sister, Joan Fontaine who will be 88 on Oct 22.

So, I guess that she will not be expiring anytime soon then.

Hmm just been announced that Ms De Havilland is to recieve a special honary oscar at next years awards. Also that she is going to be in attendence. This would indicate that despite being almost ninety she is in pretty good shape. However the academy have a tendency to honour those with failing health who wont be here for much longer.

I reckon the old gal is guna hang on till next year just so her ego can be fed an she can pick up what will be Oscar number three. However with that an her ninetieth birthday also coming up next year mite be more excitement then that ageing heart can deal with.

A defo for next yeras list!!!!!!!

Am I imaging it or did she turn up as the final guest when Russell Harty was on This is Your Life and end the show by snogging him full on the lips.

Almost too bizarre for words that moment, so maybe I did imagine it.

Is she still alive or not? I just watched "The Snake Pit" last night. She was incredible in it.
