One of the great but forgotten - over here -  80s SF films (like Miracle Mile). Much recommended. Sad news.

PS iirc he worked on the LOTR trilogy so should piss an obit.

Don't forget The Quiet Earth was based on The World, The Flesh and The Devil.

Harry Belafonte is the only one left of the 3 person cast, so one for the extra caric thread.

The combination of Geoff Murphy and Bruno Lawrence made some quality films - Utu, Goodbye Pork Pie and of course The Quiet Earth.

Well good thread

Am the one who think that Jane Campion , Peter Jackson or Russell Crowe is likely to die in 2019, 2020 and 2021?

New Zealand may be included in the Australian constitution, but despite his close mateship with Malcolm Turnbull, I'm certain our former PM John Key will agree that we pursue a thoroughly independent set of policies, despite the huge Kiwi diaspora in the East of the West Island.

As such, I thought it was about due to have a new thread for us. I mean, no self-respecting Kiwi says 'Hooroo mate'. It's all 'chur bro' and 'aaaah, she'll be right' and 'oi'll hive sex scoops uvv fush and chups, cuz'

So, without further ado, here's some of the NZ great and good to keep an eye on:

Sir Brian Lochore. Absolute legend of New Zealand rugby - from the Wairarapa to the All Blacks. No legends left to present the Heartlands Championships (Meads Cup and Lochore Cup) this year. I see this has got obit on BBC and the Telegraph.

Blair Vining, 39, died on Friday.  Since being diagnosed with terminal cancer in October 2018, the 38-year-old Southlander devoted his remaining time to making sure other Kiwis didn't have to go through the same struggles he did.  His petition to create a national cancer agency was signed by more than 140,000 New Zealanders.

Noted: Spade Cooley's JOKER in the DL Cup Finals.

I checked: every member of Split Enz is still alive, except Paul Hester.

Miles Golding might be next, as he fears that coronavirus would hinder his cancer treatment

Sir Michael Cullen releasing a book about his boring life.

Article includes video footage of him, the first I've seen since his retirement due to his diagnosis. On top of his stage 4 cancer, he's also been diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
