Wow!

That's where I was born too!

I wonder if we could be related?

(Wouldn't call him "cantankerous", though.)

With maternity units closing down throughout the North East, by 2222 Aberdeen will be the only place in the Noth East of Scotland where you can actually be born.

So although it was his birthplace, it does not actually mean that he was brought up in Aberdeen. His parents may have been from somewhere else.

(Just thought I would give surrounding towns and villiages some hope in being the actual place where this fictional charcter was raised.)

Certainly if today's standards are any yardstick, he isn't going to have been going to have talked as if he were going to have been brought up in the city of Aberdeen.

But in the surrounding countryside less so, I fear.

But speculation is a terrible thing.

As is frostbite.

:o

James, please pop over to see me at DL HQ when you have a few minutes spare :o

Thank you, James.

Over to you, Mr. Reaper. Put a fine one in from me.

James Doohan....

What can I say, I'm a Star Trek fan like so many others and frankly, Scotty was a stunning character. Doohan managed to put the "Irish" back in to Scottish and if that isn't a miraculous act of social engineering, then I don't know what is.

I'm going to miss him... until I watch Star Trek TOS again as re-runs.

Oh, and Janeo? The part about it being fiction? Give Prof. Stephen Hawkins a chance and NOBODY will be calling it fiction again.

So who's next from the TOS posse? I'm thinking that it might be the 'Belly and Toupe' man himself, Mr. Shatner.

I don’t see William Shatner dying anytime soon. In 2008, he will become a full-fledged astronaut, as he is booked to fly into sub-orbital space aboard a Virgin Galactic private spacecraft.

Leonard Nimoy, a.k.a. Spock, will be the next "Star Trek" star to pass away. His superior Vulcan logic cannot cope with the infantile way of life which we live today. Hence, he will choose his death at a time to be confirmed soon, presumably within the next few years, at a time when he can still mock William Shatner effectively.

Re Shatner: Looks like he'll beat ZZ Top into space. They - apparently - have reservations for the first passenger flight by NASA.

So the thing is Jim Doohan had no middle finger on his right hand.  Watch old Star Trek episodes and movies.  You won't see his right hand in anything other than odd angles or clenched fist.

Except for "The trouble with Tribbles", where they messed up and you can see his missing finger. (Or not see it rather... you know what I mean.)

I disagree. All Bran is doing him a power of good. He may be a candidate for the 2026 list.

Guest Guest

A quick check on IMDB reveals that James Doohan and DeForest Kelly, who died in 1999, were considerably older than the rest of the cast. All the other regulars are aged between 67 and 74 - hardly prime Deathlist material.

Give it another five years, I say.

It seems this Star Trek member has revealed he's gay.

George Takei as - Hikaru Sulu

That would account for why he always seemed to be drooling when near Chekhov and his eyes would get a glazed dreamy look when Kirk took off his shirt.

James "Scotty" Doohan’s remains will be blasted into space on December 6th.

Remains of Star Trek's 'Scotty' headed for space

Scotty's blast off has been delayed by engine problems, until some time in February.

The Enterprise engineer would be most displeased.

I'm sure if 'Scotty' were still alive, they would be ready in January

They'd have to rewrite the laws of physics.

'Scotty' ready to be beamed up

THE remains of actor James Doohan, who played the starship Enterprise's chief engineer Scotty on Star Trek, will be blasted into space next month, the company organising the flight said overnight.

That's some good money wasting right there.

James Doohan has been found in mountains in the of New Mexico. He:

"....spent some four minutes at the edge of space before coming back to earth."
