A rarity with only four survivors alive today, I thought it’s be appropriate to start one for these four men after Alan Bean died today. So who’s going to be the last one? I think the youngest person will be last, so Charles Duke gets my vote...

I'd love it to be Buzz but he's the oldest and not in impeccable health. Charlie Duke seemed alert in a video from less than a year ago, so my hypothetical money's on him.

Voted for Schmitt, though wouldn't put it past Aldrin to punch the Reaper in the face

I voted for Jack Schmitt, but ideally the world will get its act together and send more men to the Moon before the last of the original twelve leaves us.

Having a closer look, I really can't decide.... I voted for Harrison Schmitt.

A good reason to quote XKCD (unfortunately, we're ahead of schedule)

Aye, but we couldn't run a control group here. There are too few alive now to decide how much explosure to cosmic radiation and the like has actually contributed to their demise. So, that graph (based on earth expectations) may be flawed

Given 9 of 12 saw (or have seen) their 80th birthday and US average is 78, perhaps the opposite is true and the life extending benefits of a trip to the moon should be looked at. :D

Yeah, and then you throw income and social class into the mix

How many working class people have walked on the moon...

The average American has probably not been at the standards of fitness or review that these heroes reached. These men were not normal they were selected to be outside the curve. They started out as being the best of the best and were then whittled down to a select few. Lots of those who wanted to be considered died trying, these four are the survivors. Statistically outside the curve.

You'd hope we'd send someone else before they all cark it wouldn't you?

If we did send anyone in the first place that is.
