Unrequited Love / Secret Crush

Following on from a conversation with a work colleague, this got me thinking. Anyone going to ‘fess up to having one?

Have I had those types of experiences before? Yes. Am I going to tell you what they are? No, that would get into some details that I’d rather not go into...

I used to have a list of Top Ten Unattainable Men, if that counts.

Don't think it ever got to ten, tbh, cos I'm fussy.

Dennis Lawson's niece had a crush on me once.

For some reason she became rather upset when she discovered I had never caught heterosexuality....

Never have one with somebody that ....

1) You have never actually spoken to/know well at all because, when you finally do, oh the disappointment :(

2) Somebody you fall madly in love with only to discover that they love themselves equally as much and not you at all.

Yeah,  late 1960s era Diana Rigg. It's the lack of time travel that's the real killer blow there.

2018 Diana Rigg is older than my gran - it's really not the same.

Also, it's really difficult to read posts on here when they get deleted mid-read. Err, to no one in particular. :D

I've had them a few times. All in real life, most ended up in direct rejection because I don't seem to have it in me to keep my feelings private. Something just pushes me to try. Guys tend to view me as the one whose feelings are okay to hurt, maybe as "compensation" for those super-pretty, unattainable girls who rejected them in the past. I never had the opposite situation happen (and honestly, if someone had such strong feelings for me, I would probably give him a chance).

Most of the time it isn't really love, just an infatuation that's got out of hand. The very fact you can't be close to the person is the fact that's making you fall for them, it's a vicious circle. It's not them your falling for, it's who you think they are. I'm sure there's exceptions but as someone who's experienced a few (it's easier to run into when 90-95% of the people available for you to be physically attracted too have a different sexual preference). Doesn't mean it sucks any less...

And yes I bumped this thread because of one before you ask.

@Gooseberry Crumble You've fessed up to Sir Sean as a first crush.

So I'll do mine. 8 years old. Derek Longmuir of the Bay City Rollers.

I must confess to not being able to place him in my mind ie visualise what he looks like! So I will now use Google images to sample  his delights!

Decent  choice  but for crushes on movie actors who were also hugely successful  in vintage television  I find the very masculine,  strong,  brooding  Bruce Willis hard to beat. A beautiful  expression of walking breathing  Cocky testosterone
