Very sadly I think 2021 is probably going to be his year. As others have said, he's a lovely bloke by all accounts and it will be sad day when he leaves us.

Turns up on Richard Osman's House of Games, on right now (and all week).

That'll teach you to watch the 6 o'clock news....;)

The "road has been bumpy lately". Interesting. I was beginning to believe that he was the worst pick on my team (apart from the non-obits).

He is currently on Richard Osman's House of Games which was probably filmed over the summer and he looked and sounded really well

Big shame

Both Bill Turnbull and George Alagaiah need to be on the list for next year.

Worth noting his statement says he intends to return. I mean, we know he's not here forever and others have made similar declarations that have proved unfounded, but his statement isn't reading as 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish'. But I suspect this will probably be his last Christmas either way. Such a shame, lovely man.

Little surprised that Turnbull got on but Alagiah didn’t. I think the latter would’ve been a better pick…

I think both are quite near the end but Alagiah will go first.

He's gone a bit quiet on social media, but thankfully, he lets us know that he's still alive (sound slike there's room for improvement though):

I never really watched him on the BBC but did watch him give a masterclass in presenting to the rest of the GMTV presenters.

I really warmed to him after that, mainly coz i is a soft shite really.:D

RIP to the most famous celebrity beekeeper. Suggs, Vince Cable and Scarlett Johansson battling it out for that title now.
