Couldn't see the 2020 thread, so just confirming here @Kinnock that I have sent to you my team for next year.

Good luck for 2020 everybody.

Confirmation of this, and confirmation that I've sent my own team to YW for safe-keeping (as he's the first entrant).

In addition to this confirmation that I've now amended said team upon the mortifying and amusing (go on have a good laugh) realisation that my own wildcard pick failed my own FFBI filter.

Anyway new thread:

I added up my points and so far I've received over 2,005 this year. Since Leah Brackneil has given an exact date I used the 15 of September for the date of death when I added my points.

Read the rules again. There's a reason we don't let people tott up their own points.

Ok then folkes and folkettes off we go to the races. Subject to late obits up until 7th January and inevitable errors on my part. The provisional scoreboard....

And to think I had to remind John Key to enter 2020 or else we wouldn't have had a team from our defending champion for 2020......

A massive applause to him for not only breaking Grim Up North's record - held since 2017, but breaking it so comfortably he beat the_engineer who also beat it more marginal.

Meanwhile Bibliogryphon breathes a sigh of relief as mysteriousmummy breaks records at the other end of the table in becoming the first Hare's Death Pool player history to not get a single point in the entire 365 days of competition.

John Key, the engineer, CaptainChorizo, FixedBusiness, The Unknown Man and An Fear Beag can all win with a single 31st December hit.

Grim Up North, The Mad Hatter and ebless can all win if their wildcard dies.

Obviously multiple late deaths is an open possibility that could allow even in the mysteriousmummy to still win (she'd need 5 31st December deaths though.... not impossible, but impropable)

A Podium Finish......

The now customary when I can be arsed update will be taking place over the next few days :)

Check this post for your score. :)

FixedBusiness 2417 points (Fernando Ricksen, Bart Starr, Clive James, Dave Bartholomew, Herman Wouk, I.M Pie, Jacques Chirac, Jim Leavelle, John Cocks, Johnny Clegg, Valerie Harper)

The Unknown Man 2260 (Fernando Ricksen, Beth Chapman, Herman Wouk, Jacques Chirac, John McCrick, Johnny Clegg, Leah Bracknell,  Marieke Vervoot, Valerie Harper)

Joey Russ  2093 (Tim Conway, Bart Starr, Clive James, Fernando Ricksen, Hal Blaine, Herman Wouk, I.M Pie, Mazoa Nonaka, Robert Mugabe, T

Boone Pickens, Valerie Harper)

Valerie Harper is showing as my 24th entry on the masterlist, not struck out,  and not on the quoted update. Am I due the 241 points others received for Valerie Harper (d. 30 Aug 2019)? The corrected score would have me at 10/25 for Hare's Death Pool 2019.

Congratulations to John Key.

Indeed you are that was one of the 'inevitable errors' - allows you time a couple of places up the leaderboard as well with a 1737 provisional final score. All fixed.

@Sir Creep  in danger of becoming one of a handful of players in Hares Death Pool history to fail to meet our woefully low obituary standards.....

After a discussion about Renee Wallinga's existential status, long-term players will remember Renee was winner of last years Who the Feck Are They?  prize mother of Joele Wallinga after Creep's 2020 entry I found this - which looks like her but is in no way a qualifying obit*.

209 points available to Sir Creep if anyone can find an actual obituary.......

*

  1. Celebrities qualify if they achieve an obituary or article about their death in a local, national or even specialist newspaper - the article does not need to specifically relate to their death, instead just mention it and date it*. or website/magazine/paper. If in doubt cite your death note for approval. There is absolutely no requirement for obits to be in the English language, however translations should be provided if they are not.

And no your not trying to pass off a Book of Memories as a specialist website before you try SC...... :P

So NOT so outlandish LOL.  I had no idea if she was even alive when i put her name out there.  So this is all news worth noting!  Yay, I picked an ALIVE person at least.

"Yesterday my beloved mom moved on from this world. She was not only my closest family member, someone I spoke with every day and whose love and support was always overwhelmingly palpable, she was a very close friend. I love her so much and I am not sure what the world will feel like now that she’s beyond it."

There's the movie she was the 'star' of, God Straightens Legs -- download the stream since a few weeks before she died.  You just mad cuz Sir Creep finds awesome potential deadpool names like this, it's okay I would be too.

@Sir Creep

I don't think all that many people are going to be jealous of a 0 pointer, wasted slot..... probably more relieved they didn't pick the nobody....... failing to achieve our obit standards which permits any obit in any language in anything from the daily papers to specialist film magazines is a pretty good indication of lack of fame...... can you really not find an Albanian film magazine that pumped out an article. Not to mention you didn't even do base research to check whether her daughter was married and those her name was actually not the same as her doubters, so if I wasn't in a benevolent mood you'd be having the WTFAT award rescinded for picking a non-existant pick.....

At least Bob Joers is bonafide obitable for the Middleton Times, thank goodness YoungWillz will be spending New Years Eve googling yours, gcreptile, Book and Predictors teams next year, although in Predictors defense he has the decency to actually use the time tested brackets tradition for his lot......

Aye was zero points.... THIS time.  But my superior research acumen is what's scary here.  One day it will pay off.  'How he find this person?' (See Deanne Sutherland, though looks like Joey also tapped into him.  Wish I'd the balls to put in DDP, all it takes is a slow news day...").  I DID have the cajones to put Brett Hewson on my DDP team.  Guaranteed unique.  Guaranteed dead.  Obit going to be 50/50.  It's the Gabrielle D'Allonches of the world who is mentioned in passing in some article that is the gold, not the info on her son EVERYONE can see at face value.

Further to our PM conversion of roughly new years eve - Deanne Sutherland doesn't exist, if your going to submit such obscure picks spelling their names right and providing a bit of the old bracket tradition (i know they are an obscure nobody, but this is why they are famous) is generally very helpful to deadpool hosts everywhere as the New Years bell chimes.... honestly I'd encourage everybody to use the bracket tradition even for the famous picks as a matter of course just in case there's someone else famous with their name and re - correct spellings see the Ian Holmes v Ian Holm discussion a few pages back with MK misspellings run the risk of just being given the first person who comes up on google  (a otherwise healthy middle aged footballer) .rather than the person you meant (geriatric actor).... :lol:

If it wasn't for our very extensive pick ratification process in the Hares you would have just been lumbered with 20 year old boxer Dean Sutherland and that would have bean that......

Anyway if you can find that Albanian/Kazakhstanian or even Iranian film magazine's website that covered her death in a delayed review of God Straightens Legs and pull up a translation the points are still on offer...... stranger things have happened.
