It wouldn't be pointless if it was used properly.

Which is?

As a one-stop complete record for the year.

Every notable death should be recorded in the current yearly thread, as well as in its appropriate specialised thread (where applicable).

You do realise that it will go completely over his head?

Dani Filth* (male singer of noughties rock band Cradle of Filth) once tried to pick a fight with (I forget who actually, but a much taller musician so lets call it Dave Grohl just for the sake of the anecdote). Filth is 5 foot 3, so "Grohl" was actually able to do the Scrappy Doo "hand on the smaller persons head to hold them back while they try to start a fight" bit for real.

True story, honest.

*Not to say he had a rep, but ask most music journos who'd met the band 15 years ago what they thought of him and they all said how lovely Sarah (the band's female singer) was instead!

Funeral services for Tom A. Goff will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel at the Fuqua (FEW-quay) Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.  WTVY-TV reports Goff died Saturday at his home in Panama City, Florida. He was 102.

Goff served as mayor of Ozark, AL for 12 years and also served as a city judge, city councilman, fire chief, police chief, constable and coroner for Dale County.

Goddamn good thing he isn't the town's funeral director.

Was going to say "and yet Lauren Bruner lives despite years of poor health", but apparently he died a month ago!

Had been on my shortlist a year or two ago, but apparently never got close to a QO.

I don't write em, I just post em.
I would have figured fay was a common search term for you.  Realised it was 'fey'.

Cheese slices are so inconvenient.   Spray cheese is where it's at.

About a month or so I was writing a post in the "People You Thought Were Dead" thread for Scotty Bowers, the legendary Hollywood "male madam" and gay pimp to the stars. The internet cut out and by the time it was back I'd forgotten about the post. Anyway, Scott Bowers has now died aged 96

The former University of Cincinnati athletic director who spearheaded the program’s move to the Big East Conference has died at 83.

Bob Goin, a UC Athletics Hall of Famer, was UC’s director of athletics from 1997 to 2005. He oversaw a massive, $100 million overhaul of UC’s athletic facilities.

Goin passed away early Saturday in his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla., after suffering a heart attack.
