The 2019 Deathlist Cup

Recommended Posts

We've never had a straight 16 or 32, Sir Creep. If we pass 32 (or dont even reach it tbh), Round 1 is a preliminary round, and the top X players (as needed) from 2018 get a BYE into Round 2. Which would almost certainly include you as the finalist.

Is that correct?  huh.  May be.  Arithmetic it is.  Mathematics is out.

Well whatever 'tis msc be good and fekked he invites 34 to the dance.

They didn't do pool/snooker/table tennis knockouts at your youth club did they Sir Creep? :( What a unexciting childhood you must have had.

If there's more than 16/32/64 (i.e if there's 48 entrants, 16 players get a bye into the second round), you hand out byes to players until you get back to 16/32/64 entrants, or hold play-offs/round robin qualification among the excess participants until you get back to 16/32/64 entrants (this second format would struggle to keep the DL Cup inside  year, because it takes far too fucking long and bores the fuck out of everyone in the 16/32/64....).

I'd like to join if that's ok.....and can I clarify, under rule 12 about tie breaks and the second point being the average age of hits - the younger the better, presumably?

(I know, I know...but I'm a relative newbie, and not expecting to get very far in against such experienced opposition!).

Can I join please? That way someone who would otherwise have had a bye will have the fun of an easy victory instead :)

Sure. Though don't worry about the Byes yet, some likely players (Sean, Chorizo to name but 2) yet to show up.

And on the assumption they're won't be 64 teams being entered into this bye's now seem an inevitability.

The rules are too complicated for a casual visitor like me to enter,  but being a helpful type here's a few you should have picked -

John McCririck
George Alagiah
Leah Bracknell
June Brown
Dennis Waterman
Chris Tarrant
Prince Philip
Jean-Claude Juncker

So unless there are 56 entries then I'm not in February. I think I'll send my squad off for some R&R and tell them to report back for duty on 1st March ready to die for the cause.

Numbers fantastic though - dead pooling really is enjoying a boom period!

Meanwhile looks pretty likely i'll be assembling a team for February - time to get mscs mega-list up and scan for eligible folk.

I think everyone on that list is A-ok, bar Monsanto Man. I forget who's on it.

EDIT - Double checked. Yep, all fine. Bar Monsanto Man (Dewayne Johnson) and Dragon and Starr because dead. Vicky Phelan wont be accepted either.

Trust me, at least 6 of the 10 names a solid team will have haven't even seen their name printed by the media yet.  Feel free to play, it's all in fun.  But also feel free to go look at what went down in Cup '18.  Kinda a blueprint.

Most solid teams from last year seem to have had 11 names. Kinda a blueprint. :D
