If we pass 32 (or dont even reach it tbh), Round 1 is a preliminary round, and the top X players (as needed) from 2018 get a BYE into Round 2. If there's more than 16/32/64 (i.e if there's 48 entrants, 16 players get a bye into the second round), you hand out byes to players until you get back to 16/32/64 entrants, or hold play-offs/round robin qualification among the excess participants until you get back to 16/32/64 entrants (this second format would struggle to keep the DL Cup inside year, because it takes far too fucking long and bores the fuck out of everyone in the 16/32/64....). 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
