The 2019 Deathlist Cup

Ortega irrelevant.  Since the 15th or so this thing was coming down to one thing: Randy Romero (Bou's Joker).  He dies, Bou wins coin flip.  No one else on her team will be dying.  2% chance Ricksen but again not relevant.

I believe Spade would win even if Romero dies this month since he has more hits on his team than hers. And wouldn’t the overall age also be to his advantage?

Rebekah Recker died a while ago, not sure if the obits count:

http://www.tributes.com/obituary/show/Rebekah-S.-Recker-107279733

She only 50.  That may upset Joey’s age differential Apple cart.

Oh if only the poker player was joker!  I don’t think I could have controlled myself ‘did you say poker player— ‘joker’!’

My understanding is these funeral home pages have been rejected in the past so it would be unfair to turn that aside in a final.

He still has at least two hits younger than any of Bou’s so far (Nugroho and Lorenzen ), so he’d very much still have the advantage now if it came down to age

The town's paper deletes the online obits after two weeks, lol, and she been dead 3.  All traffic directed to Legacy, and that doesn't count as we know.

Boudicca setting all sorts of records, including first hit that couldn't meet the minimal Cup QO requirements.  That's awesome!
Here are Google's complete list so far of flimsy obit mentions...

Saying 'it WAS in the Fremont News-Messenger' is factually accurate.  But doesn't pay the piper.

Well that''s what I call bad luck. But highlights how important is to keep tabs on the more obscure picks the host might miss!

That Bou, setting all sorts of new records. 99% sure that's the first time the universal deadpool rule of "host actually needs to see the obit" has done for someone in the Cup.

I'm almost as proud of my 82 (?) day run of no hits as I am of being in the final without a crushing defeat, although there's no shame in that v @Spade_Cooley

Congratulations to the winner and many thanks to @msc for all his hard work, to @Sir Creep for advice and encouragement, and to everyone else who took part. It was fun!

Congratuwelldone Spade! An encyclopaedic knowledge of flat-liners like that, no one else had a vague hope. :champagne:

Hearty round of applause to Bou for a frankly astounding debut season in the Cup. No hits record AND worthy finalist? Quite an achievement.

And, of course, hats off to the inimitable msc on some top bollock hosting skillz.  :hatsoff:

See you fuckers in the 2020 final!

OK Boudicca has given her concession speech and changed her signature for 'Runner Up'.  Now GOOD JINX in place, her team should start dropping like flies the last couple hours!

And so the biggest Cup to date ends!

We've had surprises, we had thrillers, we have giant killing runs (kudos Bou!) but in the end, the 2019 Deathlist Cup goes to

SPADE COOLEY!

You may all congratulate him.

And that's us done! Thanks for enjoying/enduring...

Congrats to Bou on a great Cinderella run throughout the tourney, congrats to those who got Squonked, I'd like to thank Google News and my girlfriend writing a thesis leaving me with a lot of spare time at weekends to research. And fuck me, I have the taste of blood ready for DDP 2k20 now.

Depending on timing, then the last 3 DDP hosts have all wound up with girlfriends while hosting. An added job perk for any singles on here querying the role? :D

Congratulations Spade,

I thought that one could see that you really wanted it and worked for it. Stellar performance.

Well I suppose no-one would take on the role unless they were single.

Oh and congrats Spade.

Might as well put this here:

Glad to see the Cup has its fans. It's the type of deadpool I wanted to join in for years, and hosting (apart from all the complaints!) was fun.

However, all good things must come to an end. Being brief, the hat-trick of doom - weans, ailing relatives and a real life work avalanche in the next 18 months - make hosting the Cup in 2020 highly unrealistic.

So consider this 4 months warning to see if anyone else wants to run the 2020 Cup. If so, great. If not, it was fun.
