It might also help if the plots are not utterly shit too. As all of the above is bound to be shoe horned in at some point, I'm out. Nobody outside of the Daily Mail comments section has said anything about “wokey bollocks” or “slave ownership” storylines.

ladyfiona 2,590 Posted May 8, 2022 4 hours ago, Toast said: Have they said he'll be playing a gay Doctor? I hope not. We've only seen him as Eric and it would be dreadful to typecast him so early. The Doctor is fluid anyway and I think with great acting and plot it could work. The Doctor has the connection to River Song and any other romantic interests such as Rose anyway so that would not be erased. Regarding the show Sex Education - This is a TV show I needed when I was at school because I would have come out as queer earlier and been more accepting of myself. I'm happy young people have that now.

ladyfiona 2,590 Posted October 23, 2022 Ok I kinda loved that episode but hated Dan had that send off and there was no Thasmin kiss or anything, what was the point of Dan mentioning to her that Yasmin liked The Doctor only for them to smile at each other? Oh hello David.

There was an attempt to kill him off on a space train but he left willingly and now joined ex companions in group therapy together. 1

The remotest chance he could turn up in the future may require me to continue ignoring it. Shame, one of my friends knows the new Doctor well, I think he mentioned the RSAMD or summat. I will be watching the Tennant/Tate comeback though.

Like what I say with new TV shows is that you give it at least 3 episodes to get a feel for what is going on and get used to characters/plot etc. For at least one episode there is regeneration energy shenanigans and then introducing the new companion(s) and getting used to their vibe. I trust RTD to get it right because anything he writes is great.

However, I've said before on the Forum that It's A Sin was a sanitised version of the AIDS crisis, I stand by that. Look at shows like Boys From The Blackstuff, Our Friends In The North, This Life for example and you'll see probably the high watermark of British drama. RTD is best suited to sci-fi, dealing with real issues he's a bit meh. Imo.
