Grim_Rita 4 Posted January 1, 2005 Some good picks there but I think an over-reliance on celebs 90+ once again!
Teddy 21 Posted January 1, 2005 Some good picks there but I think an over-reliance on celebs 90+ once again! Which is in no way connected to the chances of older people dying before younger people...
Larry Pestilence III 6 Posted January 1, 2005 What happened to 2005 numbers 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 16, 17, 19, 23 and 50?!

Grim Reaper 186 Posted January 1, 2005 What happened to 2005 numbers 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 16, 17, 19, 23 and 50?! Just a few glitches while the site was being updated - should be ok now.
Larry Pestilence III 6 Posted January 1, 2005 Just a few glitches while the site was being updated - should be ok now. Cool. Cheers GR. I was, however, kind of hoping that Mrs. T. would be in the missing ten, right up there with her buddy Pinochet.
football_fan 42 Posted January 1, 2005 I was also hoping for Margaret Thatcher’s name to be included in the 2005 list.
Tuber Mirum 126 Posted January 1, 2005 I was also hoping for Margaret Thatcher’s name to be included in the 2005 list. An unexpected omission indeed, but I doubt strongly that many folks will be hoping she hangs on long enough to get on the 2006 list.
Larry Pestilence III 6 Posted January 1, 2005 I doubt strongly that many folks will be hoping she hangs on long enough to get on the 2006 list. Quite, perhaps with the exception of Mark Thatcher (from his prison cell).
Grim Reaper 186 Posted January 1, 2005 I think Mags would have made it if it hadn't been for that little appearance in the media before Xmas - cant even remember what it was for (visiting South Africa for Xmas?). Would be a real shame not to have her as a DL success though - This time last year Patrick Moore appeared to be a bad omission - buts he made it to 2005 - so lets hope Thatch takes a leaf out of his book

BirdieNumNums 12 Posted January 2, 2005 Hey guys, gotta tell ya that I love the job descriptions on the new list. Just spent a few moments chuckling to myself over them, thanx for the New Years entertainment. Happy New Year, by the way. By the way, where did we finish last year? AND......Good Luck for this year guys!! Lets be number 1!!!!
Magere Hein 1,400 Posted January 2, 2005 Good list. I see that Pervez Musharraf and Clive Dunn didn't make it to the list, but that Hamid Karzai did. A fitting job description for Liz Taylor, too. Oh, and a happy 2005 to all. regards, Hein
Death Watch Beatle 41 Posted January 2, 2005 It has been mentioned on numerous occassions that the DL can be very biased towards candidates from good ol' Blighty. Of course it is, the top dogs at DL HQ are British, and the website is British based. However, as an exercise I have listed below the nationalities of the latest 50 recruits. (I have assumed Peter O'Sullevan is Irish, although I haven't confirmed that he wasn't born in Northern Ireland - I'm sure he wasn't, but you never know): America = 20 Britain = 12 (although Olivia de Havilland was born in Japan apparently) Poland = 1 Germany = 1 Ukraine = 1 Switzerland = 1 Brazil = 1 Portugal = 1 France = 1 Russia = 1 India = 1 Afghanistan = 1 Argentina = 1 Canada = 1 Chile = 1 South Africa = 1 Czech Republic = 1 Austria = 1 Ireland = 1 Cuba = 1 So there you have it, the DL is not Brit biased - it has a definate American theme! Note for Honez (and any others from down-under): Sorry about the lack of representatives again this year! DWB
Paul Bearer 6,125 Posted January 2, 2005 Note for Honez (and any others from down-under): Sorry about the lack of representatives again this year! Are there any famous Aussies? Except for the cast of neighbours and Prisoner Cell Block H?

Tuber Mirum 126 Posted January 2, 2005 I can think of a couple of ex primes minister of Australia: Bob Hawke Malcolm "Life was never meant to be easy" Fraser Harold "Just a friendly wave each morning" Holt and some others who weren't in Neighbours: Danni Minogue Pamela Stephenson Barry Tuckwell Paul Hogan Rolf Harris That is off the top of my head. With research I'm sure you could find one or two more. Perhaps even three.
Slave to the Grave 26 Posted January 2, 2005 How about Steve Irwin (Irvin??)? An Aussie and quite likely to shuffle off prematurely too given his liking for teasing crocodiles.
Guest Annoyed! Posted January 2, 2005 YOU SICK T0SSERS!!! I came across your site via an internet search engine and I've never been so sickened and horrified in all my life. I am absolutely disgusted that you HAVEN'T predicted Margaret Thatcher's death. How could you do that to me? Appalled - London.
Markusdragon 0 Posted January 2, 2005 Hmm... Well, at the moment, anyone on the list should be getting around a 1/4 chance of dying. Do you really think that maggie should be dignified with a 3/4 chance of surviving the year? I think not!
Death Watch Beatle 41 Posted January 2, 2005 A few more facts about the 2005 list for you. The average age of the list is 87.8 years of age, helped in the main by Diego Maradona and Hamid Karzai being under 50. The split of ages on the list is as follows: 100+ = 2 90-99 = 26 80-89 = 14 70-79 = 5 60-69 = 1 50-59 = 0 40-49 = 2 No surprises really. DWB

The Yeti 14 Posted January 3, 2005 How about Steve Irwin (Irvin??)? An Aussie and quite likely to shuffle off prematurely too given his liking for teasing crocodiles. I'd be more worried about the snakes & spiders. What are the odds on his new kid ? Now which hand did I have the chicken in ... ?
