Must say I’m really impressed by the list. I’m also impressed by the major last minute comeback of John Lewis and the Qaboos. I think this list is gonna be great

Yet again the forum fails to understand how close to death Thomas Schaffernaker is....

Bizarelly - as usual the overwhelming majority of my entry didn't make the list

Although it looks like given Clarrisa Eden 40 odd points was a good move.

Nice work Roey, well done.

Just out of interest geez, where exactly was Schafernaker placed? Just so we know how much to campaign in 11 months time like...

Generally Joey reveals this information in a couple of months time (I don't think the absolutely no fucking hopers are tracked that throughly on NYE to be honest, fairly enough.)

And thanks to Joey for doing this. Both the actual Deathlist and this crowdsourced one look seriously good - can see 15-20 hits on both of them.

I wonder if Bill Gates senior, Lester Piggot or David Crosby made anyone's top 50.

I have David Crosby in my Death By Numbers, if that counts.

I think most people will have ruled out Bill Gates Sr as not being Deathlisty enough.....

I dropped Roberta McCain from my shadow list partly for that reason.

Crosby was on mine. He's been a long time "can I find a spot on the DDP" name for me and that health update last year was enough to make him DLy for me. The Cmme clearly agree. I think he wont see the next World Cup.

OH MAN, OFF WITH A BANG

1/50

th.jpg.7f238b39d1341ee1921be657d3bb061a.jpg

10th January 2020

Questions of whether the crowdsource list will have to wait super long like last year for a first hit has been answered, as Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said has died to give the crowdsource list it's first score. After completing his education in England, he was placed under house arrest by his father in 1966. During that time, he studied Islam and the overall history of his country, which was then known as Muscat and Oman. On July 23rd, 1970, he was able to successfully lead the 1970 Omani coup d'état against his father, with the goal of ending of ending his country's isolation from the rest of the world as well as using it's oil revenue for modernization and development. Muscat and Oman became known as Oman, and he ruled the country for nearly 50 years. He lead the country as an absolute monarchy, and like most countries with an absolute monarchy, had it's fair share of flaws. However, he did help to make Oman a better place in other regards, such as abolishing slavery in the country, modernizing oil revenue, and helping to build hospitals and schools within the country. He previously had a cancer battle in announced in 2014, but when it was reported that he might only have weeks left, the folk pushed him on through, being one of two major last week comebacks to work successfully. He died at 79 from cancer, sneaking onto the 43rd spot, and setting the stage on what might be a stronger year than last year...

Him and John Lewis proved that it is completely possible to make it on solely on last week voters (or in Lewis’s case, only 48 hours). Anyone who doubts a major comeback in the future will have these two to look on...

SCRUTONIZING MR ROGER'S DEATH

2/50

shutterstock_1098445052.thumb.jpg.c76ff76a56b444178f9df09ce781d264.jpg

12th January 2020

Well known English bigot Sir Roger Scruton has died to give the Crowdsource list a quick follow up success. He began his career intending to study the natural sciences at Cambridge, but instead switched to studying philosophy on the first day of class. He got his conservative ideology he was well known for after witnessing the May 1968 student protests in France, believing he was on the other side. Well, he was on the other side of many issues that we all love so much, such as being a racist that go him sacked from a government job in 2019, founding The Salisbury Review in 1982 that called for compulsory repatriation, and believing that gay rights are dangerous for the children. Nonetheless, he was highly respected within the conservative community, and got rewards such as the Czech Republic's Medal of Merit from Vaclav Havel in 1998 for his anti-USSR work. He was also knighted in 2016 for "his services in philosophy, teaching, and public education”. However, many people still see him as a massive cunt. News of a cancer diagnosis was announced in August 2019, and after he looked terrible in December, he became popular on lots of folks list. This was his first appearance on the crowdsource list, jumping all the way to 35th place.

A DEAD PARROT

3/50

JONE.jpg.47f11a38a86b502d38311adfb9fa9adc.jpg

21st January 2020

Beloved Monty Python member Terry Jones has bereft of life and rests in peace in order to bring the crowdsource list its third score. By far his biggest success was with his work with Monty Python, which taught people that stuff like silly walks and fish slapping were fun things to do. It was no wonder then that with sketches like those they were able to be arguably Britain's finest comedians, something that allowed them to make it worldwide. Terry was less of a performer than the other five and made most of his impact behind the scenes. However, he still performed some really big roles during Monty Python. Among them included the upper-class man in "Nudge Nudge" who kept getting asked about his sex life, the explosive Mr. Creosote in the Meaning of Life, Brian's mother in the Life of Brian, and the waitress in the "Spam" sketch, which now produces the term for the infamous junk mail we all love. He co-directed Holy Grail with Terry Gilliam and he was the sole director of the other two Python films Life of Brian and Meaning of Life. The former of the two films really had a fascinating story, which lead to former Beatle George Harrison to pay for production. Outside of the Python realm, he was a renowned medieval historian and he teamed up once again with Michael Palin to write Ripping Yarns. Sadly, he had an aggressive form of dementia known as frontotemporal dementia, which ultimately lead to his death at 77. This was his second appearance, jumping all the way to the 20th spot. In other news, I just found a book on the Spanish Inquisition. I wasn't expecting to see the Spanish Inquisition while writing this obituary...

Impressive 3 - 1 lead at the end of January.

Scruton and Sultan of Oman definitely feel likely the could have been on the proper list tbh.
