If Doleman makes the list (spoiler alert - he wont) we all know the Cmme have gone for as many "hits" as possible.

Anyhow, this is how I imagine most Cmme meetings end:

Cmme Boss: "Well the whisky was great... and we have a list of people."

Cmme henchman: "More booze!"

Cmme statto: "Uh oh, this list only has 49 names!"

Cmme Boss: "Oh fucking hell, quick, it's an emergency, anyone seen Sean's latest list of 700 people?"

*checking of Iphones*

Cmme henchman: "Anyone heard of Johnny Clegg?"

Cmme Boss: "Is he alive?"

Henchman: "Yes."

Cmme Boss: "Brilliant, that's 50. More whisky!"

:D

I'm really not on DeathList a lot these days as don't consider it to be a particularly productive use of my time, but here are my thoughts

Who should be/could be No.1?

I think it's time for a change:

a) not Kirk Douglas for the fourth time in a row

b) it should be a woman at the top!*

*The last time a woman sat at the top of the DeathList was in 2015 with Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Before that only 3 other women were No.1s: Queen Mother (1991 and 2000), Doris Speed (1993) and Etta James (2012). Really a bad quote!

Only 2 women are eligible imo, Vera Lynn and Olivia de Havilland.

So I say it should be Vera Lynn, if she makes it to 2020.

I support making Vera Lynn #1, then Kirk Douglas at #2, Olivia de Haviland at #3 and Prince Philip at #4 provided they all make it that long especially given recent news

-Gena Rowlands (1930)

-Jasper Johns (1930)

-Robert Wagner (1930)

-Lalo Schifrin (1932)

-Yoko Ono (1933)

Noam definitely needs to make his debut

There has been a general lack of academic/intellectual type people on the main list IMHO except for the really big names

And in certain circles Chomsky is a really big name

I think all of the Stones will bow out in the 20s. Starting with Wyman next year.

All of them?

Wyman and Richards probably, less sure about Jagger and the rest

I honestly think there should be a thread about which 60s and 70s rock stars will still be alive in 2030

Good idea and i would bet the names in that thread would be very slim by 2029

I could see Peter Gabriel, David Byrne, Bruce Springsteen, and some others from the 70s still being alive in 2030

I'd say Paul McCartney, David Essex and Lulu may still be around in 2030 but pure guesswork that far out.

I'd think Barbara Windsor is a great shout, she's deteriorating rapidly and I stand to be corrected, it's a lot more media quiet about her the last few months.

Her heart problem makes me think she will die before she gets to the final stage of dementia.

Is Leon Spinks deathlisty? I mean, if Errol Christie made it on...

Leon Spinks is 20 times at least more deathlisty than Errol Christie.Like Toast I know exactly who he is but had no idea who Christie was until he was dying.Spinks is one of the only boxers living who most people will know by name.

In many cases even worse. First you lose your physical capacity while your cognition remains reasonable,  and then just to rub it in dementia sets in.

I used to think MND/ALS was the worst but the primary progressive aphasia Terry Jones and a few others have runs it close. Basically, it's dementia that starts up front, so you lose your ability to communicate with and understand the outside world first, but the actual dementia bit where the brain goes is the last bit of the illness.  From what I hear from his friends, his mind is nearly gone now, and he's not expected to live too much longer (PPA has a considerably more dire prognosis than normal dementias). Despite being a huge fan of his, I can't help but feel that's a bit of a relief given this illness.
