It's not quite Saturday night, but Joey Russ just got paid with points off the demise of the great Little Richard. But the meager point value almost drives him crazy: 5 point base value is bolstered by an extra 6 for the uniqueness and Hollywood Squares bonuses. A whomp whomp aloo bomp a lomp bam boom!

Oh yeah, my first hit in three years. This is finally going to be my year, I can feel it. :D

A feat of strength for Joey Russ with the considerably more lucrative Jerry Stiller hit right after Little Richard. Like Little Richard, Stiller was a unique pick who appeared on Hollywood Squares, but in this case was at the top of Joey's team instead so the base 45 points are coupled with 54 in bonuses for a whopping 99 points. Not bad at all for a gimmick theme team!

DeathByArsenic picked French cinema titan Michel Piccoli. In doing so he lands his fourth consecutive unique hit but might have some Contempt for the base points not being more - 25 base points plus 10 bonus points for 35 in all.

The next scoreboard sees msc and DBA climb a bit, and Joey make a huge leap from nothing to midtable:

Dilip Kumar outlasts yet another Indian immortal. This time, esteemed hockey Olympian Balbir Singh has pucked off, and Sir Creep scores a goal of 30 base points and 12 extra for uniqueness for 42 in all - the immediate points no doubt a welcome change of pace for him after the long waits for Gray and Sutherland.

Heave Ho... Hong Kong gambling king Stanley Ho is finally dead, and JoeMoneypenny bet big on him. The risk paid off handsomely, with a jackpot of 45 base points and 18 uniqueness points for 63 total and his first hit of the year.

Singh and Ho dying within days makes you wonder if drol sent a few too many angry letters to the Grim Reaper's office.

So tired, tired of Weighton...

That's right, the ever-so-cursed "world's oldest man" baton has been passed yet again with the death of Bob Weighton. 45 points for time and 20 for CaptainChorizo.

I don't know where, don't know when I'll tally up the points for Vera Lynn.

Actually I do. Right now.

The Forces' Sweetheart was picked by 6 teams. 45 points for Old Crem, 40 for Great Uncle Bulgaria and Toast, 35 for Pedro67 and YorkshireBanker, and 25 for Torva Messor.

Things continue to be excitingly close at the top, with Yorkshire inching up to equal footing with RadGuy while maryport maintains his slender lead.

Two hits for YorkshireBanker in this update. One brand new, one from months ago that the host didn't twig was a hit before...

Freeman Dyson, who died back on February 28th, was in Yorkshire's sphere and gets him 30 base points plus 12 for uniqueness for 42 total. This also shaves 5 points from his Vera Lynn hit.

Dead today is Johnny Beattie, another unique hit for Yorkshire who also did panto. 30 base points coupled with 24 bonus points gives him 54.

And so after the closeness at the top we now have a clear leader. Though technically he's been in the lead all along since Dyson's death!

I forgot who I'd picked to make myself so utterly bollocks at this game, so I've just looked at my records. I think I was absolutely pissed out of my nut when I submitted. Figures.

Don't drink and deadpool, kids. You'll end up 34th.

Ah FFS, was greatly enjoying that lead whilst I had it

For our riveted viewers here's my current line up, again:

50. Qaboos bin Said Al Said – DEAD (1st)

45. Daniel Arap Moi – DEAD (4th – 4 Feb)

40. David Gulpilil

35. Tom Belso – DEAD (2nd – no q/o)

30. Genesis P. Orridge – DEAD 14 March

25. Judy Dyble

20. Eileen Ash

15. Lee Kerslake

10. Wg Cmdr Paul Farnes – DEAD 28 JAN

05. James Church

Still  holding  out for Belso doing a "Jim  Russell" on  me and getting a fleeting mention on the BBC site at the end of the year when the motor racing journos collate the year's news. All of which would force a shake up in the ranks since he pegged out 2nd of my squad. Gulplil has been a let down for a few of us so far this year. Amazed he's still in the land of the living tbh.

Days after maryport ruminated over the well being of his survivors, he begins the comeback effort. Fairport points for maryport with the death of Judy Dyble. 35 base points and 14 unique bonus points launches him up 49, ensuring the fight for the top remains an exciting one.

ALSO just spotted Johnny Mandel was picked here. A painless 28 points (20 base + 8 unique) for Etushispushingupdaisies.

Very altruistic of you to note the hit of a completely different member... ;)

21 Jack Charlton points (15 base, 6 unique) go Kinnock's way and gets him on the board.

It was Bloody Friday for John Lewis this time, whose late-year diagnosis meant he wasn't too popular here. He was only picked by Banana as a sub, netting him 25 points.

Another scoreboard in quick succession, with maryport closing in on YorkshireBanker. Can the gap be closed?

Couple of hits to report here.

Only while reviewing the masterlist did I realize ex Munich mayor Hans-Jochen Vogel was picked here. He had secured the 1972 Olympics for his city, and now secures 28 points (20 base and 8 bonus) for Prophet.

And your host is on the board with the demise of GOP longtimer Brent Scowcroft. National Security Advisor under Ford and Bush Sr, crucially for my theme team he was also Deputy National Security Advisor under Nixon. 50 base points and 20 points my way gives me 70, and leaves just DDT on nil points in the latest scoreboard...

It's gotten wild, wild, wild for the HPDP with the death of Frankie Banali, whose drumming career made him a natural fit for HPDP popularity. Ten teams in all went for him.

Toast 40 + 16 = 56.

drol 35 + 14 = 49.

Book, msc, Sean 30 + 12 = 42.

John Key, Prophet, Sir Creep 25 + 10 = 35.

Banana 20 + 8 = 28.

and The Unknown Man 25 for utilizing his first sub.

Given the popularity of the hit a new scoreboard is summoned. The top two remain intact but the chasing pack is shaken up:
