Death Impends

Hartlepool Deadlypool 2020

Recommended Posts

Ed Battle lost the battle and the war, back on December 26. If he obits, Skinny will get 0.85 consolation points, but I'm reaaally not expecting any coverage of his demise beyond local rags. @Skinny kiltrunner you are now entitled to add a new name to your team per the rules:

If a name on the player's team dies before the pool opens, they will not receive points for the death (barring a minuscule consolation point or two). They will be allowed to put a new name on their main team, either from the subs bench or a new name entirely. If a sub is promoted, they are entitled to name a new sub.

However, note that since this revelation has become known after the new year and I have publicly posted the teams (albeit the pick masterlist is still a WIP) you cannot bring aboard a currently-unique name onto your main team.

Can we just move my first sub, Harry Reid into the spot?  And then let's put Prince Phillip on the sub list.

Eight teams were all aboard the Qaboos caboose. Most placed him quite high and thus are richly rewarded over the Sultan getting swatted.

50 points for Book, CaptainChorizo, drol, and maryportfuncity.

45 for gcreptile and Toast.

40 for RadGuy.

15 for John Key.

8 teams.  See, when this happens and you have no idea why.... clearly something was missed.  Meh.  No idea what it coulda been.

Five teams closely Scrutonized the mortality of Sir Roger, and can now wax philosophical over their assessments. 40 points for Prophet, 35 for RadGuy, 25 for Book, 15 for drol, and 5 for msc.

Tom Belso was selected here by maryportfuncity, however I only see coverage by racing specialist media and thus nothing yet counting for points.

YorkshireBanker gets on the board with the death of Bobby Brown. The Rangers great, not the wishful thinking one relating to one of today's Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductees... Either way, 45 base points and 18 bonus points for uniqueness for 63 total.

Christopher Tolkien goes from Middle-earth to under earth, and sees markb4 join the scoreboard with 10 base points and 4 extra for uniqueness, for 14 total.

And four hits means scoreboard time. Book and RadGuy are joint top off the rapid demises of Qaboos and Scruton. Can these strong starts continue?

A Lotte hits going around lately. Up next is the death of South Korean businessman Shin Kyuk-ho, who marks the first hit for DeathByArsenic with 20 base points and 8 bonus points, for 28 total.

Terry Jones is a Messiah for five teams who all anticipated he'd eat a wafer-thin mint this year. Looks to carry a panto bonus as well.

EDIT: Also a rare utilization of the Morris dancing bonus.

YorkshireBanker 40 + 48 = 88.

Toast 35 + 42 = 77.

RadGuy 20 + 24 = 44.

Mad Hatter 10 + 12 = 22.

And maryport hits his first sub for 25 points.

Two teams were able to find room for Nicholas Parsons in 12 spots that the DeathList couldn't in 50... really, DeathList?

Anyways, quite the Sale of the Century for time, who was the only one to pick him on the main team, thus netting 25 base points plus an extra 60 for the combined uniqueness and Celebrity Squares bonus. 85 in all.

Torva Messor gets her first sub hit and 25 points.

First time I've ever picked Nick for anything I think. Sorry to see him go, but grateful for the points!

Did you know that Bob Dole parodied the Sam & Dave classic as "I'm A Dole Man" for his presidential campaign in 96? Well that's certainly the chant among 7 teams who all score a touchdown on NFL star Chris Doleman...

40 points for drol.

35 for CaptainChorizo.

25 for Book, Clorox Bleachman, and John Key.

15 for Banana.

And 25 sub points for msc.

And time for a new scoreboard, with YorkshireBanker leading and Terry Jones looking to be a crucial early hit for the current leading pack...

The Few become even fewer with the death of Paul Farnes. Fittingly only one person picks the ace, with maryportfuncity getting 15 base points plus an extra 6 for uniqueness, for 21 total.

A trio of teams here revved up John Andretti into their teams, keeping up the frenetic pace of hits. 50 points for the_engineer and 20 for drol and RadGuy.

Hello hello hello! It is moi! I am here today to sadly announce the death of Moi! Not moi, Miss Piggy, but thee former President of Kenya, Daniel arap Moi!

bPVRdfA.jpg

Uh, Miss Piggy? That dead despot's name is pronounced "Moh-ee"...

LiMoFxV.jpg

Thanks for ruining the joke, Kermit!

You heard Miss Piggy. Daniel arap Moi is dead, and with a crimes against humanity bonus to boot.

Defending champ theoldlady gets her first hit for 50 + 30 = 80.

Banana and maryportfuncity 45 + 27 = 72.

Etush, Skinny, and Mad Hatter 40 + 24 = 64.

gcreptile 35 + 21 = 56.

Clorox 30 + 18 = 48.

Rad 25 + 15 = 40.

CaptainChorizo first sub hit for 25.

10 hits worthy of a new scoreboard, with RadGuy taking the lead fresh off a consecutive Deathrace win... Can his momentum continue?
