I'd never heard of him before he was mentioned here.  There, I've said it.

Death of one of the greatest icons in the civil rights struggle. His funeral will no doubt energise the BlackLivesMatter protests. Big question is how will the idiot in chief respond? Can he resist the temptation for once to not say something offensive and imflammatory?

PS he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on dec 29.How could he not be on this years list?

Here you go, cunt.

"Melania and I send our prayers to he and his family."

Ignoring the obvious grammatical error, what on earth is the point of sending prayers to the family, let alone the deceased?

WTF do people expect to happen?

Prayers should be addressed to whichever deity/ies you think may bring comfort, solve the problem, or whatever.

I see this all the time nowadays and it irritates the shit out of me.

Yep. Just another platitudinal throwaway that means “I need to mention this but can’t be fucked to think of anything meaningful”.

Exactly.  Usually bracketed with "thoughts", as in "Thoughts and prayers go out to .... "  (Why do they always say "out to"?)

Meaningless soundbite.

It's evolved from "My thoughts are with you", which is a slightly more poetic way of saying "I'm thinking of you".  Those phrases are fine.  They sound heartfelt and sincere.  The modern mangled versions don't.

Prayers are an entirely separate matter and should not be thrown in like a package deal.

Well if Trump is gonna vouch for him to Jesus then surely he's going to hell
