Hmm

Ian Whitcomb - musician, writer on rock music etc. ain't well at all and he's lost a couple of toes to bad circulation. Go fund me in action and he's been given an honourary mention on the generally well-informed ill folks music site: http://illfolks.blogspot.com/2019/10/gofundme-3-toed-ian-whitcomb.html

UK obit chances...hmm, dunno about DDP but nailed on Deathrace points because the likes of Variety would report him

Ian Whitcomb is dead according to social media...

Ian Whitcomb's Variety Obit.

In addition to his singing, writing and lesbian porn appearances, he was also an early presenter of the The Old Grey Whistle Test.

Yeah, and appeared on it as a performer once Whispering Bob had made the hot-seat his own.

List of the Lost 2020 will salute him with one of his early recordings - because it all got a bit music hall later on in his career.

I've just checked the history of his page. Nobody's tried to edit it with the Writers Guild source. Give it a shot.

Fantastic story this. The fact he was working as a chemical technician makes it even better, as well as him claiming he had no idea he'd been reported dead and his wife was behind the whole scheme.
