Saw someone marking the passing of Paul Dodd on Facebook just now. Once dubbed the country's worst football hooligan and banned from every ground in the country. Oh aye, and a Carlisle lad who followed his local  team. Not sighted him at a match in ages!

Nasty piece of work

‘Kill the Jocks’

Article from 2003 covering some of his ‘history’ - must only have been 48 when he died.

i knew a couple of lads in the BCF who were at Killington Lake - I think one of them maybe did time for it.

Poor guy. Actually really sad reading that.

On the contrary, sounds like he shagged his way through lots of hopeful women.

Yes, I believe so, too. He had girlfriends but could never "find the right one". Seems not a single one lasted more than a year.

There's normal something off in the head with folk like that who can't hold on to partners.

That's Gladys Knight and the Pips in the middle, right - she's 76, very much alive and obitable.

If anyone ever gets cynical and moans about the woeful staying power of acts "discovered" on talent shows you can always get one over on them by citing Gladys Knight and her crew - serial talent show winners in the fifties who had a decades long career.

Fair point but 99% of talent show discoveries couldn't and cannot hold a candle to Gladys and her Pips!
