the_engineer 1,415 Posted January 29, 2020 Tomorrow is a big one to look out for. This virus has matched the projection below and another one aswell so far ,infact the death toll is higher. If the cases are close to 10500 to 11000 and death toll over 200 in tomorrows update then this starts to get serious. People will begin to panic.

paddyfool 379 Posted January 30, 2020 Today's totals from China: 170 deaths (29% increase); 7,711 confirmed cases (27% increase). Medical supplies running short in Hubei province. More than 50 cases outside China, but no deaths outside China yet. Also, in the fake news department: a bit of fauxtography fun as a WHO advisory altered to warn against unprotected sex with animals does the rounds: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/coronavirus-bulletin-farm-animals/

the_engineer 1,415 Posted January 30, 2020 Can you believe WHO have said flights to and from china should continue? This is symptomless! Imagine two symptomless infected Chinese get a flight (temperature and health check out fine) from let's say Beijing to London and stop off and catch a connecting flight in Amsterdam. Think how many people they could spread this disease too and kill! Many Chinese and for that matter tourists going to china won't be able to get refunds because this type of stuff usually isn't covered in insurance, so instead of losing £500+ they've paid for flights add on accommodation etc they'll take the chance. UK needs to ban flights direct or indirect to and from China straight away. Italy and I believe Taiwan already have.
paddyfool 379 Posted January 31, 2020 The death toll stands at 213 inside China (up 25% from yesterday), with 9,096 confirmed infections (up 18%). The quarantine has also taken its toll - for instance a 17 year old with cerebral palsy has died after the rest of their family were quarantined https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jan/30/disabled-teenager-in-china-dies-at-home-alone-after-relatives-quarantined Case total in the rest of the world 129 across 22 countries, no deaths as yet. gcreptile 10,979 Posted January 31, 2020 My death toll prediction is a little higher than the consensus of our site, but it's still a very negligible number. For comparison, flu deaths in 2019 are estimated to be around 650.000: https://www.globalresearch.ca/flu-bigger-concern-wuhan-virus-grabs-headlines/5701932 So yeah, even six-figure numbers and the low 7-figure numbers are not that dramatic, on a global scale. People die.

That's good but on twitter they were saying they've run out of the tests to diagnose people of this illness. 15000 suspected cases. Hopefully it keeps dipping, but even then will we know if china is being transparent. https://mobile.twitter.com/BNODesk/status/1223032352408055809
msc 18,479 Posted January 31, 2020 Don't panic, but there's another virus hitting the UK. It's undetectable for up to 48 hours after you catch it. You can catch it from just being in a place someone who had it was, even hours earlier. It travels by air, food, contact and animals. In the last 12 months, it's produced complications that are estimated to have killed 5-10 MILLION people alone, but the higher death toll may never been known. And even now, folk are ALLOWED to travel to the UK despite carrying it, knowingly or unknowingly. Be worried. 1
