Yeah, but flu killed 56 people in Iran in 2 months, at the end of last year.

It's just another pandemic, we have had them before.

The Corona bollocks is just another virus, it's nowt special.

At the moment it is just the flavour of the year, give it till summer and it we be Ebola again.

Aye, about 14-20 thousand people died every October-December time from the flu iirc, but nobody panics because that's life as normal.

I found out where the Berkshire case is, in Woodley at a primary school.

That is less than 20 minutes drive away.

Google tells me 4 hours, lol. It's only 20 minute drive because you go 60+mph going up the motorway towards Reading.

12 more in England confirmed. 35 cases now. That’s now as much as 0.00006% of the population. Panic buy and stay indoors, people.

Exactly one week after half term finished. Hardly seems like a surprise. Keep your hands clean, people, and if you do get a cough / fever, try not to infect anybody else.

Meanwhile, the global confirmed death toll is almost at the 3 thousand mark (2995).

Been to the petrol station for petrol for the lawnmower today.  Spotted in the shop four bottles of Hyacinth scent Zoflora  -  MY FAVOURITE which the bastards have DISCONTINUED.   So I snapped them all up.  Does that count?

Home work sounds like exactly the kind of bollocks out of touch politicians and civil servants would suggest....

We're all going to get personal exposure to it sooner or later. Shutting schools as a precaution now  - especially this close to GCSEs and A levels - is just going to louse up kids' exam prospects. Kids are young and healthy and will cope with it. Same applies to cancelling sporting events. If your constitution is such that it's going to get you then it will do so sooner or later anyway. All these sorts of measures do is delay it going viral (!) by  a few more days, weeks at most. The NHS' winter flu season is almost over, may as well bring it on.

A close adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has died of the coronavirus, as the country continues to record a higher death toll than anywhere outside of China.

Mohammad Mirmohammadi, 71, died in hospital in Tehran on Monday, citing Iranian state radio. Mirmohammadi had been a member of Khamenei's Expediency Council since 2017.

OTOH viruses like this spread the worst during winter conditions, on the whole (since viruses left on surfaces live longer in the cold and the damp).  If we can postpone widespread infection until warmer and sunnier times, it should then spread a little less easily and be a little more manageable.

Right now, with the NHS massively short-staffed and underbedded with record breaking waits in the emergency department etc, is no time to be having a whole new viral outbreak.

Someone is currently being tested for it in one of the local (town of 100k in California)hospitals.   Luckily Amazon still has a lot of different gas mask options

Just had a look at my Facebook page and a bunch of ads have appeared overnight. They started with a nice helpful warning from the NHS. Then there was another NHS one with advice on how to prevent catching the virus. Then two from pharmacies advertising their wares and a bit on prevention. One from Listerine also about the virus. Then in case none of that works there was one from a Free Will Writing Service and another from a company explaining they can help to pay all your bills after you have died and thus not be a burden on your family. No hint of pessimism there then. Bring on the apocalypse.

Blibberwimble Johnson was on with his two trusty sidekicks this morning.

Yeah, reassuring the country that the Government totally well prepared for an outbreak. Blibberwimble - same guy who left people on the Diamond Princess closed community resulting in a death? Same guy who has left that dame languishing in an Iranian jail?

Wouldn't trust him as far as he could throw himself at the nearest mistress.

For those who like to see numbers change:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

I have to say I am becoming a little suspicious of the numbers in China and Iran, the slowing down of the spread in the former and the numbers of deaths in the latter.

If we compare those numbers to Italy and South Korea, two countries with an extreme transparency, the former numbers look a little off.

China's population is about 27 times that of South Korea. The number of cases in China is about 25 times of that in South Korea. I bet the real number is a little higher, maybe by at least about 1.500. Especially considering that China has had a "head start".

And Italy might soon surpass the number of Iran's fatalities. It already has double the number of infections of Iran.

Iran and Italy now roughly on par on cases and deaths, now that Iran has had its number of cases increase by 50% in a single day.

I guess they couldn't hide it anymore with half the government sick.

Another country with a too low number of cases: the USA. 6 deaths and only a hundred cases? That means either extremely bad health care, bad testing or a suppression of truth. We are not at the third option yet, but lots of articles are speaking now of a "testing gap".

There's a vid going around twitter on Iran numbers and in one vid there's like nearly 50 bodies in one part of the hospital all coronavirus. Also think Japan is playing down the numbers aswell ! Maybe because of the Olympics.

Italy could be about to shut all schools and colleges for 2 weeks after a 24 hour period full of people dying. (Death roll now at 80)
