Peppers.

Seems to be 5 of them on the album?

I'm off to bed, I'll see if there's anything I can help with tomorrow.

Yes, I did spot this myself from another picture. I couldn't find the names of the other two but I see they're there so added them both.

Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers 11 Feb 1938 – 25 Apr 2007 (69) Guardian obit
Wiki American singer-songwriter, actor and comedian from Somerville, Massachusetts
01/09/1973 Monster Mash #3

Pickettywitch
Wiki UK pop group, formed in 1969 and disbanded in 1973, purported to be named after a Cornish village but in reality no such place exists, singer Polly Brown was also one half of the duo Sweet Dreams – she was once "engaged" to television and radio personality Sir Jimmy Savile (1926–2011) in a sham event set up for publicity purposes

07/11/1970 Baby I Won't Let You Down #27
NB: Credits for the first single here. Tomich must have played on the second and/or third as per this. Unclear to me if Peter Hawkins (died 2014) and Brain Stewart had joined before or after the recording of the third single.
NB2: Other than Brown, all other members seem to have faded into complete obscurity. Hall was interviewed about the Savile "engagement" several years ago in the Daily Mail here.

The Piglets
Wiki UK novelty outfit composed of female session singers, put together by producer Jonathan King
Barbara Kay c. 1940 – Living
06/11/1971 Johnny Reggae #3
NB: King originally claimed the lead vocals were by him according to the Collins Complete UK Hit Singles book. In reality they were sung by Barbara Kay. Here King says that there were three of them, all in their 40s at the time of the recording. This suggests there were only two, and mentions that another biography claims singer and actress Adrienne Posta (b. 1949) was involved. This is dismissed elsewhere, and she would have only been in her 20s at the time of recording. Kay was actually born c. 1940 and was from Bristol as per a newspaper cutout here.

Pickettywitch.

This may come in dribs and drabs, because of the windows I'd have to open.

Straight off the bat, Keith Hall was living in Finland in 2012 - article helpfully includes his date of birth: https://www.6d.fi/index.php/wemet/463-moving-to-his-own-beat

Thanks, added. I'm more or less done my end, the only act I haven't attempted yet is The Players Association. It's just a long list of session musicians, I'll do it before I go to bed.

Damn Pickettywitch, hard walls everywhere!

Anyway, The Planets.

Steve Lindsey is on bloody Twitter as are Deaf School but could I find any birthday wishes? No! However, through a myriad route we find that Stephen Lindsey was born March 1955 via this https://www.imro.ie/about-imro/our-board/steve-lindsey/ and this https://ie.globaldatabase.com/company/elevate-music-productions-limited I'm assuming from Liverpool given his extensive links as shown on his Twitter, now living in Dublin.

Platinum Hook.

Hard this one. Bobby Douglas and Robin Corley are in a band called Tupelo Honey.

This is Bobby Douglas' FB page accessed via the Platinum Hook page: https://www.facebook.com/TIPHUN?hc_ref=ARRpwNMX6BJhMCTVgfPuzCttbAZ5dA-OaRrs7C_GV1yPAytNSrWlZxCEb4nOU10xmFg&ref=nf_target&__tn__=lC-R

Tupelo Honey Page here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/Tupelo-Honey-A-Van-Morrison-Celebration-961680384028560/posts/ Robin Corley comments on the T Shirt post but his FB is inaccessible to me as a non-member of FB - perhaps that might be available to you?

Otherwise dead ends.

Poppy Family.

This article from 2014 indicates the relative ages of the band. http://www.vancouversun.com/entertainment/Poppy+Family+blooms+again+Experience/10015057/story.html

Essentially Satwant Singh is similar in age to Susan Jacks, so probably born between 1947/49. Craig McCaw is 4-5 years older, so probably born between 1942/44.

There's a link here that I can't access as not on FB also from 2014: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=677851995630454&id=576025122479809 and that might give you further links.

Poppy Family 2.

It might not matter. This link has Terry Jacks indicate that McCaw and Singh were not on the single: https://theprovince.com/entertainment/music/ebook-excerpt-which-way-you-goin-poppy-family and it was probably session musicians who did the recording!

Gah!

Cheers YW. Finished the section now and added The Players Association members in (14 of them and only missing bio deets for one).

Platinum Hook – came across both of these FB pages earlier and this is where I got Corley's birth date. Bobby D has his privacy settings way up so can't see anything sadly!

The Poppy Family – this is a difficult one. All four are credited on the album, with McCaw and Singh being an integral part of the group already at this point. So I've put them down as promotional members instead rather than scrubbing them off completely.

That was a ballache of a section. Too many blanks. I'll finish P by Monday.

I mean I largely approve of your post because Iain is a twat, but this bit...please, decide whether you want to refer to yourself in the first or third person. Illeism is wankish enough but such inconsistency gets right on The Quim Reaper’s tits.

EDIT: Ah, Ulitzer puts it much more succinctly than me/Quim

I assume you must have Ulitzer blocked as he told off the fuckwit for this on the same day it was posted.

Also if you have blocked him,  you might miss that this is a *research* thread to find out if various pick worthy names are alive or not so wouldn't fit in with the general death threads.

Are you OK? You're being surprising scatterbrained of late.

All hail the Singles Thread! And someone else can chip in with the research you know.....

What a band Queen were. There's not even any of their top ten listed above (it came mostly in the 80s and 90s imo) but most of that would be the greatest hits for another band.

Rafferty'll be in the next lot if I'm keeping score. The boozy grumpy genius didn't often trouble the charts after he took more to drinking instead, but Baker St and Night Owl (which I prefer) both made the top ten.

A fan digresses. :D

Pratt & McClain.

Jerry McClain (out of Pasadena, California) contact details here include a reference to a School of Management: https://contactout.com/Jerry-McClain-13552475

This would fit in with this Jerry McClain who graduated from Pasadena High School in 1960: https://old-friends.co/studentRecord.php?s=139*477295&dd=

I'm not American, but is that going to take us back to early 1940s, born Pasadena?

Yup, Rafferty will be in the next one. I have the Night Owl album on vinyl. Stick it on every now and then. Get it Right Next Time also one of my all time favourites.
