Indeed, there's an aprocryphal story too long to go into here that did the rounds a few decades ago in the music industry. The gist of it is that a record industry guy has been stuck in one section of his company for a while and comes back to marketing in the early 90's, somewhat nonplussed at the explosion of ambient techno, grunge and the like and finds himself struggling to know where to start with writing press releases. He hits on the idea of asking his bosses to put him on selling UK music to the US, figuring the Americans are more conservative in general and old school British artists - like the members of Asia - are doing okay over there. 

 

His boss considers the proposition and says, "Well, all the Americans want from this company at the moment is more Right Said Fred"

 

The struggling guy practically has a meltdown of confusion on the spot, "What?!" he screams, "are you telling me Bernard Cribbins is #1 in the States now?"

NB: Lineup changed a lot through the years but the eleven names listed above appeared on their hits as per this page. In locating many of them in the GRO, this photo was particularly useful. Toyah has been quite open about her surgery to the extent she documented the whole procedure in a book. I get the impression she and Fripp have just taken a decision to enjoy themselves and probably feel they have earned it considering how many of their contemporaries have fallen by the wayside.

She still tours and was o  the Electric Ladies tour which Hazel O'Connor was meant to be part of before she fell ill

Updated for the death of UK/Sri Lankan singer Bill Forbes, who was a one hit wonder. Obit quoted above. According to posts on FB, he died on 7th Feb in Huddersfield.

I have also updated the entry for The Flower Pot Men. Neil Landon died off radar in March 2020, aged 78. Pretty surprised about that because he was a relatively big name in the music industry.

Another entry updated is Bern Elliott and the Fenmen. Alan Judge died in 2017, aged 74. Just found the tributes on Facebook now, and the GRO Index confirms he died in Kent.

In the process of updating all entries as haven't done a search for any of these in over a year now. Done letters D–F tonight. If anyone else wants to help out, feel free. There will be more off radar deaths in the other letters.
