A bit of digging seems to indicate Pete Cresswell was aged 16 when he definitely played lead guitar on Baby Sittin'. Rumour is it is most likely Mick Avory on drums on the single, but nothing definite.

Wonder - is there any easy way of listening to everything that's charted in chronological order (ie, all the songs that debuted one week, then all the songs that debuted the next week, etc, rather than the typical countdowns of a specific week), via playlists or whatnot? Also looking to see if anyone has done such with US Billboard charts.

If you want to fork out £10,000 for a jukebox from Sound Leisure, it has every chart hit on there and you can browse by time.

Be wary, there's a lot of rubbish lifted by brief appearances by a Doris Day, Lonnie Donegan or Bill Haley for years before Elvis and co show up. If I ever need to hear Al Martino again it'll be too soon...

I've listened to all the regular songs on my radio's 50s on 5 station and so am used to how erratic the decade gets... Chuck Berry and co who still hold up well one song and then some mediocre early country song the next. I have the endurance

NB: Lots of wrong info on the internet about who actually performed on this record but this site sets the record straight. As for the promotional members who toured in the UK for the record, again lots of confusion but this Facebook page set up by Terry Anderson himself confirms the four names who toured in the UK. There is also a comment from Orr's son on a post confirming that he is dead. This obituary for a Jimmy King (1950–2019) claims to be the one in the band, which is silly as he would've been just 13 when they disbanded! As per this the real Jimmy King was actually Lou Josie (but Ancestry records confirm he was born in 1936, two years earlier than the age he publicly used). Birth details for Anderson are from his Facebook.

That's half of B completed (please see page 1) and I reckon I'm over 1/10 of the way through over all now.

I'm missing key member details for the following:

The Bedrocks, a group formed in Leeds comprised of members from the West Indies. Missing bio info for several members.
Freddie Bell and the Bellboys, American vocal group, probable that they're all dead but I can't find anything on two members.
Boyd Bennett and his Rockets, American group, missing bio info for three members.
Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers, Lineups changed consistently so I'm not sure who played on their three records from 64-66
Dave Berry and the Cruisers, I have the names of all the Cruisers, can't find bio info for any of them! From forum discussions I believe most or all of them resided in Sheffield
The Big Ben Banjo Band, had an incredible 15 members when they were charting, can't find info for seven of them
The Birds, Ronnie Wood & Kim Gardner's original outfit from London. I found a 2015 interview with Ali McKenzie but don't have bio details for him or the other two members
Blue Mink, Barry Morgan was the drummer and he died in 2007. I don't have his full DOB and I think his death date could actually just be the date it was announced online. Can't find him in the GRO or Ancestry. Barry not his real name?
EDIT: Solved (sort of). According to his Discogs page, Barry was born Jerome Barry Morgan. In the GRO, there is a Jerome Barry Morgan who died in late 2007, but he was born 1931, not 1944 as his birth is widely reported to be. This makes sense as his son Brett (also a drummer) was interviewed in 2005 here and said he was 44 so born 1961 (Barry was 30 when he had his son, if he was born 1944 he would've been 16/17 when he fathered.. unlikely). His son also says he lives in Sussex, and the Jerome Barry Morgan born 1931 died 2007 died in... ding ding ding, Sussex. Must surely be him - understandable that they may have lied about his age when he was in the band for image purposes. Will change to reflect.

Any help no matter how trivial appreciated!

Yeah, some of these are the proverbial nightmare.

 

One thing is for sure - Frank Allen left Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers before the latter's first hit, Allen being firmly ensconced in The Searchers by August 1964.

@Ulitzer95 If you expand the blurb below the YouTube link you have given for I'll Take You Home by Cliff and the Rebel Rousers, it tells you the line up for that song.

 

Now, if only we could find a live version of that, we'd be able to cross reference with the live versions of the other two singles which are up. I'd suggest that as the only sax players listed for the group, Moss Groves and Sid Phillips are on all the singles. Looks like Mick Burt on drums as early as their first hit, definitely played on the last two.

Ok, doing a bit of digging, after Roy Barber's death his missus sold his guitar at auction.

From G.R.O. records, a guy named Roy Barber (no middle initial) married Valerie A Edwards in 1968 in Sheffield. Only two people named Roy Barber were born in Sheffield between 1920 and 1960, one in 1935 and one in 1944. The records further show Roy Barber, born in 1944, died in Chesterfield in 2000.

Okay, finally finished the letter B! (please see page one). Finding some parts of this fun and interesting, others incredibly tedious, but I'll get through the whole thing eventually.

Help needed with...

Rose Brennan, Irish singer born 1931... but is she still living??? Can't find anything recent on her.
Joe Brown and the Bruvvers, Most of us know Joe Brown but not so much the band. I've left notes on this listing because I can't seem to determine which members appeared on the hits. Very annoying when this happens!
Tommy Bruce and The Bruisers, UK group. Can't find bio details for Dave Mountney, also member Bobby Coral (real name John Shipp) is dead but I don't have a date for this (likely in the 2010s though).
The Bystanders, UK group. Missing bio details for two members, missing full birth and death details for another two.

Will start C over the weekend.

Not sure if this is of much help, but this link will take you to a site which references a Brian Dunn (born March 1940, died 7 September 2015) and has a pic of the Bruvvers with their names underneath as of circa 1962. http://www.wharfbeat.co.uk/wharfbeat_041.htm and Bobby Graham mentioned as drummer by then. Given this is around the time the session musos left and the band was formally formed, this is probably the line-up for follow-up hits (though no guarantee these bods were not just the face of the band).
