Got my best results on Now 44 and Now 50 and felt very proud to recognise "Ring Ring Ring" by Aaron Soul (reached #14 in June 2001) from a five-second clip. Finished this thing, and I have some stats: 1980s - 69/439 (16%) best = '83, worst = '89 1990s - 227/954 (24%) best = '99, worst = '92 2000s - 448/1292 (35%) best = '09, worst = '02 2010s - 1090/1334 (82%) best = '12, worst = '19 2020s - 19/46 (41%) Overall - 1853/4065 (46%) It would be interesting to check in 10 years to see how much closer the strongest and weakest are.

Isn't it strange how books take up about four times the space when they're removed from the shelves. I really should weed them out a bit too, but can't really move them on anywhere as things stand. Still haven't dusted and gutted the bookshelves. I did find a stash of jigsaw puzzles in a wardrobe though. Mostly old Falcons from the 80s/90s of Old Master type paintings. So I've done some of them. Lovely. You really appreciate the details of a painting this way. And it's all very good for the brain, apparently.

Removed and boxed up all my old books* to make way for the new books which I haven't read. *not all, I kept the odd few I felt had some literary merit, plus all my reference books and biographies.

I rarely keep fiction these days, it gets passed on or donated to charity. But I do have a vast bookcase full of mostly reference books, most of which rarely get consulted these days because internet. Sometimes a book is better though, such as when you want to identify something like a moth or a mushroom. Flicking through a book often gets a quicker result. It always tells me a lot about a person when they clock the bookshelves and their reaction is to ask "Have you read all those books?" The truthful answer would be "Hardly any of those, but I've read thousands of others."

(Waves @Gooseberry Crumble) I've lost a lot of interest with this place of late. I can't even be bothered to rant a load of old shit anymore. It is being trolled on a daily basis by arse holes and sock accounts belonging to arse holes who 'think it's just a bit of fun' when it is just boring and unimaginative. GCs thread is a fucking car crash but he is a good un and a good contributor, christ, i've started worse threads! Anyway, let's see what happens here. I'm not holding my breath.
