Jan Ullrich, German former professional cyclist, one of the most noted names of his generation, and also one of the most controversial champions of the Tour de France, is 49 today. Jan Ullrich, the first and last German to win the famed Tour de France, was fired by T-Mobile after he was suspected of using illegal doping through a 21-month-old Spanish police investigation. Marcelo Zalayeta, the famed Uruguayan former professional footballer who began his career with Danubio before moving to Peñarol, for a season, and Italian club Juventus, where he remained for ten seasons, is 44 today.
