Trump and Obama, for as significant as they are, are just former heads of state now (Yeah, I know Trump can technically still run again, but he's not in office as we speak). The only death that could even try to rival this one would be the sudden assassination/suicide of the three "main" current world heads of state right now: Putin, Pope Francis or Biden. Only then would it be the Hitler/FDR case all over again.

    Ah yes,

I vividly remember the heated debates we had in April ‘45 about whose death had more significance that month.

Quite some assumptions there mr next question. Everything is a reaction to eachother. Carter getting in was because of Nixon fucking up and people being done with Ford. Nixon getting in at that stage was because JFK just happened to have a fancy mug. Which was shown because of the invention of the television which followed the invention of photographs. Is Eadweard Muybridge responsible for the Trump presidency?

I was being entirely sarcastic, namely because there is surely no reason for them to be discussing Trump or the 2020 election in this thread.

What does any of this have to do with Jimmy Carter?

Jimmy Carter was the reason we got eight years of Reagan following his poor presidency and inevitable defeat in the 1980 presidential elections. Reagan mobilised a group of people that Trump also resonated with, a group of people who wanted to see America become great again; much like both of their slogans.  Arguably, Trump modeled himself and his successful 2016 campaign after Reagan (actor, populist platform, surrounded themselves with corporate CEOs, appeal to evangelicals/silent majority).

Basically if Jimmy Carter had a stronger presidency, perhaps we would never have had a President Reagan nor a Reagan/Republican Revolution thus leading to not having a President Trump.

This is the perfect place for them to be having this discussion. Right here on the Jimmy Carter deathlist thread.

    Next question.

Queen and Duke of Edinburgh to spend more 'private time' together. Seems Her Maj realises he may not have long to go so needs to make the most of the short time they have left. Keep him on the list !  https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/queen-and-duke-of-edinburgh-to-spend-time-privately-at-sandringham-39514364.html

Was anyone suggesting to take him off the list?

  6. I don't think this necessarily will destroy his campaign, but rather put the question of age even more in the limelight than it already is.  Perhaps this helps the younger candidates more than anything else?

It will also certainly highlight the importance of a VP pick, assuming Biden/Warren/Sanders get the nomination.
