But Petula Clark is a Brit and Vicky Leandros is a Greek...

Indeed, but is it «french-speaking» or not, then ? I've asked the question before... the same goes for flemish belgian politicians, whose native language is dutch but who speak also french (Belgium being a half-french speaking country). Must french be the native language or not, then ?

the idea is to make a list .

    25 or 50 ?

but we can put some ideas here.

    rules :

    - someone who has a wikipedia page

    - he has to be french speaking (Belgium, France, Switzerland, Quebec, French and Belgium Africa....)

Well, I think I could easily put 50 decent names or even more on a list without too much effort.

What we need are rules so the list is managed like the one on this website (do there can be a sort of competition between the two lists):

    - a committee, to finally decide who's on the list and who' not, and the order of the list

    - well-defined rules about who could be in or not (for example, Jodie Foster speaks very good french...)

    - obit rules ; wikipedia is an option, we could also choose french reference newspapers like Le Monde, or decide that an obit in any newspapers written in french would be OK...

And finally, what makes the fun is the ability for everyone to have his/her personal list to compete against the committee...

Or I could end up making a website myself (why not under franchise of deathlist.net ?)

  4. For the english-speaking deathlist, an obit has to be posted on UK media for taking a death into account. (See above the list on the frontpage). That won't be the case here, so do we say "French media" (not really fair for us belgians, but hey...) ? Or the Wikipedia page ? (Our reference at work).

  5. Hi, I'm from the french-speaking part of Belgium and we use to play our own deathlist with some colleagues for three years now...

Had the same idea, too. What we first need to agree on is a common reference for obits, I think...
