Peter Sutcliffe was the first and, so far, only hit due to COVID this year. At least, in terms of official cause of death.

It's a play on "Don't Tread On Me," a phrase from the Gadsden flag. It was originally associated with the American Revolutionary War, a variant having been used by the Navy up until last year, but nowadays, it's most heavily associated with libertarians, the Tea Party, and other American right wing anti-government types, in addition to just being a well-known phrase in the North American popular cultural lexicon.

Mimi Soltysik, the Socialist Party USA candidate in the 2016 American presidential election, has passed away aged 45 from liver cancer. He only got a few thousand votes.
