I agree the year has been slower than average, but DLwise, I think it's primarily just bad luck, not that literally nobody is buying the farm. There hasn't been a hit from a single one of the Random Old People, whereas if they had gone for DLy guys like Peter Higgs or Roger Corman, we'd be at 5/50, which we were at this time last year. But it's not like those are inherently better picks than the guys they did choose, because, as stated, they are Random Old People. You'd just think some of the ones they DID choose would be dying by now. But it wasn't really a strong field for potential picks anyway.

Roger Corman dead at 98.

McGee won't die off radar. Here is an old NYT article about him. You can see him in action here: Charles Palmer is also definitely living. He was later a judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court from 2002 to 2020, so again, pretty unlikely he will die without any notice. This article has his backstory. Here's his mom's obituary from 2018, and he's briefly mentioned in this 2022 article. George Hillman was working at Ellery at least as far back as 1950, so I looked at the NYC census from then for anyone that could match. The only guy that seems kinda plausible is a George Hillman b. 1901 who worked in the household furnishing industry. Even assuming that's not him, I think we can pretty safely stick a fork in this guy. As for James Laird, well, sucks to be him I guess. EDIT: actually, this is probably him.

Joe Thomas, who produced the Beach Boys albums Stars and Strips Vol. 1 and That's Why God Made the Radio, and Brian's solo albums Imagination and No Pier Pressure, dead at 65. Infamously sued by Brian in the late 1990s, but they made up a decade or so later.
