Looks like he died following a fall a few weeks prior. Sad but what a remarkable life, and definitely nicer to go without a long decline than spending years in a very frail state.

Once you get to very old age (90s and beyond), you're depending an awful lot on luck. A healthy lifestyle and taking care of yourself will give you a much better chance of making it to old age in the first place, but beyond a certain point there's so much that's out of your control that you've really just got to hope for the best. Which supercentenarian did you meet?

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

It's a minor irritance, but is there any chance that the block on sending a couple of messages/PMs in short succession could be relaxed for established members? I get that it's there to stop spambots, but surely it could be removed for people who are clearly established members (maybe a minimum of 100 posts over at least 3 months)? -
I heard he was a right bastard. I guess we shouldn't speak ill of the dead, but he's unlikely to care now. Wätter off a duck's bäck now.

I will do these for Q1 when I am next there, I can't do Q2 though. It seems my local archives hasn't yet got Q2.

What a stupid thing to do. Perhaps even sadder is that people watch this.

In fairness, at least some of the time it will be that the patients aren't eating it because hospital food is notoriously horrible. It isn't that they aren't being fed, it's that they aren't being fed anything that is appetising because it's quite difficult to make gourmet meals for hundreds of patients so everything tends to be quite simple and batch cooked. It's just not appetising at all, when I was in A&E last year and they took me to a ward I was more worried about finding a relative to bring me a decent meal than I was about whether there was anything wrong with me. The guy I'm currently speaking to works for the NHS, and assures me that the staff food isn't really any better.

We all think he should get out more, away from his weird family. I think it's sad more than irritating. The guy is so sheltered that his perceptions of the real world are incredibly warped. I think it'd be good to suspend him, even for a couple of weeks, just so he can get away from here and maybe go out a bit. I really feel for him.

You might want to adjust this to change it from songs to individuals -

Perhaps consider the ignore function? I did and it's made the forum much better. -
Are you sure you couldn't be tempted to put him and mango on it? I'm sure we could have a whip round if you're open to bribes.

"Trump will fix it" I wonder where he got the inspiration for that slogan.

With the greatest respect possible, most people aren't going to be especially interested in obscure actors who had two credits in the 1970s. Your research is laudable and you must devote to it a lot of time (if the GRO cases I supply dates to you for is only a fraction, I can't imagine how long it must take you to collate all your cases) but if it's becoming a chore as opposed to a hobby then a break is probably sensible. People will always welcome you here.

Wrong. It's not the gender that matters, it's the ideology. Unfortunately, to get to such a position requires a certain level of narcissism and ruthlessness and that's why our female PMs haven't exactly been pillars of virtue either.

Surely it's not hard to understand why mango would prefer an old, white, decrepit male. She isn't ticking any of the boxes for him.

Perhaps we need a flowchart.

In case anyone here was remotely curious about how this worked out, I am pleased to report it has gone very well. Date #2 to be arranged soon. -

All the best to you, Arghton. -

Got a date this Friday with who I would tentatively describe as the ideal man for me. Didn't think I had a chance in hell of scoring him so I was somewhat astonished when he actually made the first move on me, and was all the more keen on my suggestion we go out. I don't think I've ever liked anyone this strongly before (it's at least as much as mango likes Jimmy Carter), and if I could keep him then I think I'd be very contented with life. I've had a fair few things to deal with this last year so to finally find love would be a happy ending. -
Just mute him. He's clearly a troll and not worth your time.

It's usually Phil that has a hand in things, not Holly.

I wonder if she's changed her address to the hospital yet

We're really, really not. I've lived in Britain all my life and the only people who speak the way you are are people who want to try and sound sophisticated but are desperately out of touch. Genuinely educated Brits don't speak as though they're in the 18th century. Your dialect is completely out of whack. You're just embarrassing yourself.

Seems to have been alive up to the end of 2023 as per GRO.
