Nobody is ever gonna win this argument, it’s pointless. What I will say is that if the calment case was unknown during her lifetime and then someone randomly said “hey, some French lady died at 122 in 1997”, everyone’s minds would go to “she’s fake”. But, it seems there was enough consistent evidence for her to be validated. Anyways, there is a part of that wishes she had been fake because she’s made it impossible for anyone to get close to beating the world record… imagine if Kane was the legit record holder and 120 was still this mystical age nobody had reached. I’m sure we’ll have a man reach 115 and another woman reach 118 within the next couple decades, maybe before the end of this decade. Kimura’s record wouldn’t be too hard to beat, but 120 may not be reachable for a while. 122 might never be reached again but who knows. The recent deaths of Nina Willis, Hazel Plummer, and Ushi Makishi, some of the greatest-looking SCs in history have completely dashed my hopes, Nina even beating Stan Kowalski’s running time at the age of 113.5. Calment was a goddamn miracle if her case is true especially considering she was before 2000.

What is super dumb is that the guy who makes the quarterly AllTimeTopTens videos (Ollie on 110 Club) has used the shitty photo of Fusa at 113 (profile pic) in every single video when there are other photos that are not only newer but make her look almost comatose (saying that in a positive way, alternative would be dead)
