The first one I can well see being the case, or alternatively a future version of Ruby herself (although that wouldn't explain their different accents). The Master? Probably too soon/obvious. We already had the tease with the ring scene at the end of The Giggle and I think the Master is ready for a couple of years off to build up to his/her eventual return. And she's highly unlikely to be the Rani because the rights to that character aren't owned by the BBC and whoever owns the rights hasn't given permission. And River Song is a Moffat character through-and-through. I don't think anyone ever wrote for her except Moffat himself. Given that this is meant to be a 'soft reboot' for the show so that new audiences can be scooped up without having to be versed in the 'lore' of the show, I'd put my money on her being a new character of Russell's creation rather than a returning Moffat-era or obscure 'Old Who' villain.

Pretty ironic given the name of the series. Maybe more sitcoms need to be produced with death-themed names as a good luck charm to the actors involved?

Are Norway and Finland also getting shafted or was the map just not big enough? -
He is one of those people who have always looked 'old', or older than their actual age. He and Annette Crosby have done well to both be around today, considering One Foot in the Grave started almost 35 years ago and neither of them looked young even then.

There's also an MP named Andrew Slaughter, but he's not a Tory so we're probably spared a bloodbath at the heart of Whitehall. -
Still struggling to process the Fraggle Rock-style musical number in the middle, but then again, this was a Christmas episode and it's not like they've ever aimed to be hard-hitting and gritty drama. My only real problem was how quickly Milly's character seemed to accept the sheer weirdness of what was going on around her (in this case that goblins took her foster sister) compared with past companions who spend a good part of their introductory episode getting their heads around the madness that's going on around them. Otherwise, great cliffhanger and amazing trailer. And how likely that Ruby's DNA test shows non-human DNA...?

He mentioned the environment this year, so maybe you're right.

My quiz team at work lost the Christmas quiz thanks to one question where we had to answer true/false to 'King Charles mentioned the environment in his 2022 Christmas speech'. We thought he did but apparently he didn't, which shocked me at first until I remembered that anything that comes out of his mouth has to go through Rishi and his team, so...

Weird. I can see the picture fine. The new logo looks really bland and generic so you're not really missing anything though.

You know, people love to lay into them as one of those 'should have gone down years ago' chains with tacky run-down stores, but there's no doubt that the damage to the high street if they disappeared would be much worse than Wilko and would rival even Woolworths. One fewer place for old people to pop in for their cards, stamps and stationary and besides, who will fill the massive hole they'd leave behind at train stations?

53 for an actor on the Archers is practically baby age. Don't most of the actors on there tend to go on to lead extremely long and active lives (or as 'active' as it gets on radio)?

If only he had hung on for two more weeks, I reckon it would have been in the bag. Or at least they could have waited a week or so before they had that wild funeral for him which was streamed on the internet.

First full day as a site user. Might as well get stuck in, and I'll try and make my top pick a more obscure one. 1. G. William Whitehurst (US politician) 2. Jimmy Carter 3. Frank Field 4. Ahmed Osman (Moroccan prime minister) 5. Queen Ratna of Nepal 6. Norman Tebbit 7. Eddie Adami (Maltese PM) 8. Yasuo Fukuda (Japanese PM) 9. Jacques Delors King Salman (promoted sub) 10. Elizabeth Shields (MP) Subs: Dennis Skinner, Dick Cheney, Michael Heseltine Really wouldn't surprise me if Carter 'pulled a Benedict' and kicked the bucket on the 31st December btw.

On a basic 'pop in and say hello' level, he's somewhat capable of functioning, last I heard. He has other health conditions to consider though. He was incapable of campaigning at all in the last election since he was recovering from heart surgery and he keeps to himself mostly these days.

I wondered who that strange man at the door was... -
It's not stopped Wham and Mariah given they're still in the running. Come on people, let's give Shane a proper send off here. It's a rare LadBaby-free year. This might be our last opportunity.

The village where he lives is only a few miles from me. He is still seen out and about every so often by local shopkeepers, so if he has dementia then it's clearly not progressed to the point where he's a drooling mess. Still, he's highly respected and regarded by people here, even those who disagreed with his politics. The Tory MP who took the seat in the last election (who will almost certainly be out of a job at the next election) loves leeching off the goodwill towards him in the local newsletters he puts out.

The fact that 'Fairytale of New York' no longer seems to be in the running for Christmas number one. I know everyone says the Christmas number one slot isn't culturally relevant anymore, but wouldn't it have been a great final present to Shane?

Hi, I've been lurking here for the best part of ten years (I even drew up my own death lists for my office before Covid) and this is unbelievably the first time I've felt motivated to post. Weird to see all the different members come and go over the years. Hope I don't go too soon!
