I found the article to be helpful summary of what we do and do not know about this. I suspect it would have become an issue at some point, even if Carini had seen the match through. I get the impression that some of the other teams aren't happy about either of these two women being allowed to complete, due to the air of suspicion raised by the IBA, even if there is no case to answer. I'm also concerned that the IBA definition of male and female does not allow for any kind of chromosomal variations. For instance, there is a condition where women with the appropriate reproductive organs (but no ovaries) have XY chromosomes. I'm not clear on whether or not this also includes higher testosterone levels than is considered normal.

This has been a really strong round. I've been listening ahead to the next round and it certainly seems a lot weaker than this one. There's still some good songs there, but no where near as many IMO. It's a shame we can't send 7 through from this round and reduce the last 2 rounds to 4.

For me The Riddle has definitely got to go, and Like A Virgin doesn't do much for me either. Aside from those I'm happy to see any of these go through, but I know which 5 I prefer. I always think of the opening sequence of Reservoir Dogs when I hear Like a Virgin.

That isn't necessarily true. More than likely there is a group of pensioners who do not qualify for pension credit, but have found that they rely on the winter fuel allowance, especially in recent years. This will always be the case when it comes to means tested benefits, there will be a group that don't qualify but struggle to get by on an income just above the qualification limit. That being said, according to figures issued by the DWP last year there are approximately 850 000 households who qualify for pension credit but don't claim it. So those households are evidently getting by without it. It was always ludicrous that all pensioner households automatically qualified for the winter fuel payment, there are a significant group of pensioners who don't need it. My mother (who was a nurse) doesn't need it, nor do her friends. They've been squirreling the money away in savings or using it for holidays.

I've had a listen to most of these but haven't found anything I would care to upvote. It seems a little unfair for 3 or 4 of us to come in and just downvote everything, probably best to stick with everyone playing has to hand out +4 & -6 everyday. Edited to add - If we limit the downvote to -2 per day it might work, but still seams a little against the spirit of the game.
