Should He Stay Or Should He Go?
millwall32 replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList Forum
My quoting Canadian Paul for this post is nothing to do with him (her?) personally but I wnated to use the above post as it sems to be the only place in this thread in which the arguments in favour of banning Banshees Scream are laid out anything like explicitly and clearly. Simply put, they do not ammount to any kind of reason or argument for banning him from the forum. So far as I can tell he has sent private mesages to people who have found them objectionable. There does not seem to be any example of him posting anything directly offensive in the forum itself. Even if there were it would take a massive leap of the imagination and ego to imagine that writing something means that he should be banned. Let us supose that he has hurt someones feelings. Very well, but what does that have do with anyone other than him and the other person in question. It astonishes me when people think they have the right not to have their feelings hurt and that others should ammend their behaviour around their touchy sensetivity. Why not simply read it then ignore it, or reply to it, or disagree with it or whatever you may wish to do. Think about the nature of the forum in which we are all writing. the very nature of suggests a libera; attitude to what should and should not be said. Even if Banshee's were to post something unkind about women in gerneral, the handicapped, or another forum member , is any more or less "offensive" than us offering up estimates on when celebs will die? There has been a lot of talk about banning people latley and since all that has not generated a single cogent argument beyond "I don't like what ____ says/how they say it" I can only assume people are acting out of boredom an/or the wish to be supressive. As I said a few posts back, the voting on this thread appears to be faulty (it's recorded me as having voted when in fact I haven't) but if I were able to cast a vote it would be against banning him. -

the idea that that shot should be banned is so ridiculous it makes me want to spit. It is the job of batsmen to score runs and the job of bowlers to get them out. the fact is he hit two sixes off two loose balls having seen the opportunity to do so. I am not a fan of Pietersenn (too inconsistent for me, I like a boring batsmen) but the idea of outlawing run scoring is insulting and killjoyish. -
Should Notapotato Be Stripped Of His Moderatorship?
millwall32 replied to Star Crossed's topic in DeathList Forum
....it is true. Those last three or four posts are an example of Deathlist eloquence at its very best. Even if you don't happen to agree with them. It is noteworthy that two more people have voted for NAP to be stripped in the last 48 hrs. Yes, I know i am doing some serious deceased equine walloping. -

Guests, A Deathlist Enhancement, Or Detriment?

You dont happen to dig corpses up in your spare time as well, do you? No. Why do you ask? You havent been endowed with much of a brain, have you Go figure. Your absolutely correct. If I were a more intelligent type of person I would post pithy insights such as "You dont happen to dig corpses up in your spare time as well, do you?" with no kind of context or immediate indication of what the hell I was talking about. I go down the rather obvious path of making it apparent what I mean when I am posting and so could never hope to match your level of enigmatic posting in what is usually a fairly straightforward forum. By the way, kudos for posting anonymously. Saves having to take any responsibilty for what you write. Wish I'd though of that. Far be it for me to step into a spat between a member and guest poster but, in this case, allow me to translate. Going back to a long dead corpse and digging it up is not too dissimilar to digging out a 9 month old thread and trying to give it the kiss of life. Hope that has enlightened you. OIC. I just thought it looked like an interesting thread and wanted to post on it, but I'd have known it was going to agitate anonymous users of Deathlist.............. -
"Least talented person to appear on Deathlist?" Are we talking subject matter or patrons? I was going to put up BS as a candidate. Do you want to throw your hat into the ring? If you look at what I actually posted you will se that I was after the least talented person to "appear on the Deathlist. Neither you, I, nor BScream really "appear " here and even if we do we tend to do so in the Forum rather than on the list itself. By the way, I have no probelm with either you or BS.

This thread has given me an idea for two other threads. "Least talented perosn to appear on the Deathlist" and "Best Recovery of Health by a Person on the List" Will try to think of snappier titles before i set them up in the morning. Good night everyone, I'm off to the sofa to watch Question Time with the Mrs.

Guests, A Deathlist Enhancement, Or Detriment?
millwall32 replied to Tempus Fugit's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I voted yes but would like to explain my reasons and add a caveat. WSome posts by guests add greatly to a particular thread. My favourite thread (Dickie O) is agreat example of this. But i think that a guest should be allowed one or two posts at most before they have to register. We have the technology to create that rule don't we? -
Should Notapotato Be Stripped Of His Moderatorship?
millwall32 replied to Star Crossed's topic in DeathList Forum
I think it involved the constant hijacking of SC's posts. Notapotato and Star Crossed are very different if you analyzed both of their styles. Star Crossed (the eccentric side) will manipulize or exaggerate or (analyze a certain situation in massive detail) which usually dragged the topic far off course. The fact which makes one wonder is (in doing so) his posts were always very quality. He has been ridiculed by (Canadian Paul for example) for (being hypocritical of his stance on posting etiquette) which everybody has a different opinion. It really doesn't matter to me. Nap is more of a "two lines that say more then that" kind of poster. Quality itself isn't about the structure it's about what the structure represents. Notapotato (being the chief mod) liked to distort what he disagreed with at one point and Star Crossed wouldn't lay down to the not-a-potato hijacking. Anyway, the forum just gets more liberal as time goes on so that kind of hijacking isn't common anymore. So in escence it's a clash of styles and personalities? Nothing more nothing less? -
Should Notapotato Be Stripped Of His Moderatorship?

In a nutshell, what is the argument for strippping him of his moderatorship? I've never had anything but pleasant dealings with NAP, but someone obviously has a probl;em with him. -

Who Do You Think Will Win The Democrat And Republican Nominations?
millwall32 replied to Windsor's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
What is the furthest Hilary can continue to fight? The Democrat Convention will obviously be a bit of a bunfight but is there a mechanism in the nonmination process to stop it getiing that far even if she wants to carry on? -

I am shocked and ashamed to see that I have never posted on the Richard O'Sullivan thread. So here I am doing my bit to keep him at the top of Google. Nothing of note, although he looks a bit like my dad. But then variously throughout his life my dad has also looked like Henry Kelly, George Roper, Victor Meldrew and Vic Reeves. I know that I have "re-ignited" this thread about four times to point out that we are slipping down the Google search. However Dickie, as with any celeb, must vanity search from time to time and unless he is a Yahoo or MSN searcher that means he must be aware of his Deathlist entry. (In fact he could be either of those things and still be aware of the thread, but you know what I mean).

I voted for Ronnie Biggs to die next, but then I always do with no success so far.

Good shout! That was a terrible loss. Even so, think I can top that. How could anyone have predicted Rod Hull falling off that roof?! Rod Hull I agree, Kirsty MacColl's death was shocking and sad
