A bit harsh, as often there is pressure involved to keep a family name going.  It used to be the norm, everybody did it.  There were even set naming patterns in some regions in which children were named after relatives in a strict order.

Also people were incredibly unimaginative with forenames, and there was only a small pool of names in common use until the end of the Victorian age.

Sorry to be a nerd, but names have always interested me.

    Knowledgeable on names I see!

I've always understood naming your kids after the grandparents but I've generally just seen it as arrogance to name them after yourself. Kind of like 'I'm so great, I want another duplicate'. I'm sure it ain't always the case but I believe quite often is nowadays. Enough names out there to do something different.

I bet you were all wondering if Giscard d'Estaing would say anything about the death of his very long term rival Chirac. And...he has.

Apparently in old age, Chirac used to tease VG'dE that he had won 2 terms to Valery's 1. Oh those statesman hijinks...

    Bad Google translate:

Maybe the translation is spot on and Valery just thinks Jacques done one.

Out of frame, there's another one with "GRETA THUNBERG THE JOAN OF ARC OF THE PLANET".

    Is she fuck.

The media are really pushing her. They all fail to mention her famous parents and privileged background. Her families concern ain't for the planet but for securing a financially healthy future for their kids. Like most of us I guess.

Awrite, this is getting a touch out of hand...

Julie Gibson isn't dead. Being the oldest former Hollywood actress, enough people are keeping tabs on her that one of them would've noticed her death. I was able to reliably confirm with one of those people that she is very much alive.

Top notch grammar, anyway, this is the most recent public photo of her - from 2004.

Is it really that unheard-of for an elderly celebrity to stay out the spotlight? IMO it would be much weirder for the family to drag a 106yo back into it.

She had no children and it is generally only them that keep these old celebs in the loop.
