Stupid/funny/cool/outrageous/scary/weird/crazy Stuff You Read/saw In The News/on The Internet
Dr. Zorders posted a topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I've been pondering starting this thread for a little while because I got sick of the "Things To Do While Waiting For Death" thread, and how everything has to be parsed into a supposedly cute/funny sentence that fits in with the concept of the thread. Like, if I was posting this news story which I just saw, in that thread, I would have to say... "Pretend it's the 1950s". And that's getting kind of lame so I decided to make this all-purpose thread for every time you want to share something you saw on the internet/in a newspaper. Saw this in the Daily Mail (where else?). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2543580/The-people-STILL-living-like-1951-Captivating-portraits-look-inside-Americas-Rockabilly-community.html What does everyone think? I have to admit I wouldn't mind tasting a bit of the American 1950s life (especially the girls) but it must get weird after a while. -
I thought this might be fun. There was another lookalike thread but for some baffling reason it was locked. Anyway, has anyone ever seen.... Crazy-haired Tintin character Cuthbert Calculus, and crazy-haired Commie Leon Trotsky in the same room? One was an absent-minded professor, the other..... (?)

Alternative tagline: "Hoffa" they can't refuse? Well anyway, I apologise if there's already a union thread. But I couldn't find one. Former NUT.............. sorry, former general secretary of NUT Fred Jarvis is still going at 90 and was given a CBE in the New Year's Honours list.

What in the Bloody Hell are you freaks all doing here? Or to quote a famous lady "where are you all flockin from?"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/36545757/calvin-harris-unfollows-taylor-swift-as-hiddleston-pictures-appear-online Wow, someone unfollowed someone on (anti-)"social" media. This is essential news and the kind of superior reporting that only the holy BBC can bring us. How dare you shut that down Cameron? Oh wait, actually, it's a complete waste of time, cos if it really is that big news, "cool kids" shouldn't need the middle-aged sad acts at the BBC to tell them should they? f**k off and die, Al-JaBeeba. Thanks. Um, now i got that rant out of the way... Anyone got any other thoughts to offer on our "national treasure"? We should use this thread to talk about it and its cuts, etc. under the Tories.

Do we have any pigeon fanciers here? Or better yet, someone who knows how to train them? I was just pondering this post by DDT (I'll leave you all to speculate on how much he was or wasn't licking his lips while typing it). I was thinking, if ISIS-critters start successfully attacking UK power stations and we have long-lasting blackouts, it's gonna be pretty hard for some of you guys to do your "burble burble, well we had it coming etc etc, burble burble, shouldn't have invaded, burble burble, Chillcoat Equerry, etc etc. consequence of Western mint imperials etc etc." So how are we going to remain in contact in case of such an extended internet blackout? Surely we need some kind of emergency back-up secondary communication system? Like a pigeon message thingy? If message-carrying pigeons are outside of our skill range, how about just putting some of those stringed-cups between (y)our houses or something? HAM radio? Anyone?

I notice DevonDeathTrip hasn't been here since he was on the receiving end of my massive rant a couple of months back. Oh well. I don't really want to spend too long going over old arguments again....... but..... (click here if you want to read what I think of that): Anyway. I think we could use an extra pair of hands when it comes to taking care of the annoying things like when people accidentally post in the wrong thread, threads that want renaming, etc. I would like to nominate themaninblack and/or Maryportfuncity to be given mod powers.

Since PD James has gone, who do you think will be the next of these remaining "James"'s's'ssssssss........, who are all fair candidates to drop? Clive James (75): (should really need no introduction for DL regulars)..... - but for the rest: Sydney-born writer and broadcaster who gained fame in the UK for his strikingly dry witticisms and acerbic observations of wacky foreign TV shows. He's been bleating on about being on the brink of death for over 2 years now. On the 2014 DL. Wheezes a lot. Clifton James (93): American character-actor, usually plays his own Southern-ness for laughs, maybe most famous to us Brits as the comically-redneck sheriff who teams up with Roger Moore in a couple of Bond movies in the 70s, most memorably "Live and Let Die". Generally plays roles like that in the stuff he's in. Was also in The Dukes of Hazzard but briefly. Quite chubby but I suppose there's been much fatter guys. James Randi (86): Another DL 2014 candidate - ancient magician and, also curiously, magician-debunker - his claim to fame is telling the public that magic tricks, and people who claim to be psychics, aren't the real deal apparently. Wow. I've got to call him up and ask him to confirm or deny my suspicions about professional wrestling. Still doing interviews, out and about and has a (much younger) male partner. Looks like Terry Pratchett's dad. For more info see his thread.

As great as this feels, what happens if there's a general election in like October or something and then Labour get in like they probably "should of" last year, and simply rejoin the EU? Don't call an election Boris. -

you have got to be kidding me. You get pissy at people who Blame right wing movements for jo coxs murder when in reality it was a lone gunman and now you are doing the same to the left wing! Ffs.Millions have called for Trump's death on all sorts of platforms and not been arrested or even banned from their social networks or whatever. They suspended Milo McAnnoyinglastname last week just for criticising Islam in the wake of the Orlando club shooting. Nobody on the right-wing in Britain called for anyone to be killed. The critters who run Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc. all effectively endorse the murder of people who question Islam or "immigration" or whatever. oh please I've seen tons of people wish death on hillary and receiving no consequences.Wishing death isn't the same as saying "someone should assassinate [X]". People have tried reporting Trump threats and nothing happens. But getting back to your original distraction/BS, who called for the death of Jo Cox? it is the exact same you clown and yes tons of extremist would have. Why haven't the people who called for Jo Cox's death been arrested then, numbnuts? Oh wait cos even our police force cant arrest someone who doesnt exist. Twat. Shut up and die.

I've just realised the swear filter has actually retroactively censored our F-words, C-words and whatnot, from all old posts too. Making everyone here look like a bunch of oath-mincing sons of priests... -
