BrunoBrimley 86 Posted May 29, 2005 Next up: Frank Cady, born September 8,1915. Cady as has been previously discussed was in the 3 inter-related Henning series as General Store Owner Sam Drucker. He appeared in The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres all at the same time. I certainly do miss those flotsam filled non-reality shows of yesteryear. It was fun each week watching the 3 Bradley girls as they appeared in the water tower (where all good small town folk went to swim--UGH! Just imagine the skin particles floating in the town water supply). We would watch as The Hooterville Cannonball made it's way roun' the bend on the way to Petticoat Junction and the Shady Rest Hotel. Occasionally there'd be the trip to the Pixley Cinema in Pixley. Or how about when the girls missed the train (run by Flooyd Smoot and some other guy) and had to use the old contraption on the tracks and get themselves into town? Hours of good clean fun. Then of course The Beverly Hillbillies and always wondering how Mr. Drysdale with the help of Miss Jane would attempt to screw the Clampetts out of their money but of course Jethro Bodine and Jed Clampett would somehow see the workings going on and have Granny or Ellie May divert the attentions away and thus keep their mansion and stay on a while longer in Beverly Hills. Good thing too, seeing as how Ellie May didn't have 'no desire to be a-moving her critters'. Settling in for the evening we'd then be amused by Oliver and Lisa Douglas and their farm hand(?) Eb. Usually we could count on someone in each episode to realize where the Douglas couple lived and they would say in utter dismay: "The Haney Place?" Amusing moments included weekly climbs up the telephone poll to answer the phone and who can forget the memorable episode where Oliver decided to paint the house and it turned out that the clapboard siding just kept sucking in buckets and buckets of paint. Maybe Fred Ziffels pig Arnold would be able to help explain it or maybe Hank Kimball could sell some notion which would fixalate the matter. Sad to see Paul pass over so soon and so young.
