Who, Of The Mary Tyler Moore Show Cast Members, Will Die Next?
deadsox replied to RadGuy's topic in DeathList Forum
I voted for Mary. Valerie Harper would be a close second. -
To quote an old saying "hindsight is 20-20". Sure it looks obvious now that the three you mention are dead ringers, but it was not all that obvious last month. Can you show me a pool or a team that you submitted with all three on it? If not, you're much like the committee and the rest of us. The only one I can say so far that the commitee missed would be Rene Angelil, then again I'm kicking myself for omitting him from my theme team. I had him as a sub, but forgot to promote him to the first team before submitting it. He was my DDP Joker. I have Feek as mine, what with her being 30 years younger, she gets more points. If Angélil held on until today you would have got even more points I was afraid that Feek might not get the required obit. I've been burned by that in the past. Daily Mail usually deliver In 2014 I didn't get an obit for Jim Bamber. I thought he was a shoo-in since he was British but no soap.

For me, I don't fear my eventual death but I'm not ready to go yet. I've seen people who are very old (late 90's e.g.) who have had a good life and are ready to go. I liken that experience to going to sleep after a long and enjoyable day. Recent experiences (prostate cancer and a mother bear sniffing at me from 3 feet away) tell me that I still fear immediate and unpleasant death however.

American Football Players

Phillips was one of those self destructive types that make you think "I should have known" when you hear of his passing. -
Thanks Carol, this is the sort of thing I'm looking for when I go to this thread. I don't know why you need to yell though.

Grizzly Adams is way more famous than some Canadian tart's manager. That may be so, but in Deathlist terms, some Canadian tart's manager was way more on the radar and talked about than Grizzly Adams. Precisely. We are talking the accusation that it's a DL 'miss'. Having watched the DL's picks for some years now, I've noticed that they have a high standard for "celebrity". No famous for being old or sick people. No "Canadian tart's managers". All people you would know about on one side of the pond or the other. Although I would put some of those people on my team(s), I respect the fact that the committee has a sense of "class". Just what you'd expect from the British eh what?

Merry Christmas to all my DL Friends who celebrate it.

I'm tired of all this negativity. I state categorically that Brian CAN!

It didn't. Think of it as a last straw. I understand the last straw concept, it's just that he put so many logs on the forums back without breaking it. Thanks for the help Lordy but I prefer to stay within the metaphor.

Thanks all. My confusion is abated although not dispelled. I also remember the S word in WW II movies but never thought it would get someone banned from this particularly loose forum.
-
Yes, because it is incorrect. "Schweinehund" would have been the correct insult. So you get banned for a misspelling? If that was the case there wouldn't be many users here. Help me out; I'm honestly confused. Now I'm even more confused. The "Urban Dictionary" lists schweinhund as the correct spelling for the German "pig-dog". What's the significance of the extra "e" Booky? Am I missing something because I flunked German 40 years ago?

I admit to being stunned that of all the offensive language and ideas I see on this forum, "schweinhund" gets someone banned? Really? Or is this some sort of admin inside joke?
-
So you had two shots to spell "Joao" and screwed it up both times with different spellings?
-
An interesting idea, those that you'd like to see die rather than those you think are likely to die. Deadpoolers should beware however. One team in our league constantly picked celebrities they "wanted" to see die and went three years without a hit and finally retired from competition.

But is he interesting enough? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa????? Damn right he is!! He is part of my childhood with his brilliant comedic stories/monologues. Shame on ya toastie, shame on ya!!!!!! Substitute "mildly amusing" for "brilliant" and I could agree with this.

Me too. As well as revelling in death, we shouldn't forget to be pleased when people defy the odds and recover, even if they are on your DDP team (which she isn't). She is on mine but I think you have to be pretty cold hearted to actually root for your picks to die. There have been a few exceptions (Saddam Hussein comes to mind).
