The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous
GossipGabe replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Thatcher linked to a Twitter post (which might not be regarded as a reliable source), while YW cited a proper newspaper article. (Although one would have had to be very quick to pick him for any DP before he was declared dead.) -
I beg to differ: if you scroll through Wikipedia's 'fairly inclusive' Club 27 list, you can see that most musicians dying at 27 are hardly famous enough for a Wikipedia article, let alone having any number ones. The same applies to Romanian manele singer Denisa Răducu, formerly called the last virgin of showbiz (ultima virgină din showbiz), who died today at the age of 27 but failed to get any English language obits. Denisa died of liver cancer caused by Hepatitis B (that her mum blamed on "cosmetic treatments"; see below), exacerbated by an ovarian cyst. Nevertheless, according to a certain medical doctor quoted by the Romanian press, the fact that she lost her virginity quite late (at the age of 25) could have contributed to hormonal imbalandes causing her ovarian cyst and thus her early demise. According to dr Pop, ladies should definitely start sexual activities before the age of 22 to avoid her fate. Never mind Hepatitis B being an STD.

Yeah, I wasn't gonna suggest that he'd likely be cured (I know that statistics are not in his favor) I just wanted to mention that according to the statement released by Mayo Clinic, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are both part of their treatment plant.

I sort of have to disagree with you on your wording, but not on the main point of Stefán not being a particularly 'deathlisty name'. Even the majority people who watched or had kids that watched Lazy Town or at least were aware that the show existed might not have known (recognised) 'the actor who played Robbie Rotten' until the show's head writer (and the internet meme factories) started promoting him and his fundraiser in late 2016. But at least he is still a proper actor, not a "cancer mum" or a "brave teenager" facing imminent death…

Yes, I didn't even notice Joey's mistake there, although I knew who he was. Nevertheless, he is "kind of famous" on his own right but he would definitely qualify for a proper obit with his "fringe bonus" (through his brother). Could be a lucrative gambit for the next few years if he continues to go downhill...

A quick update on his health – or rather, a tearful revelation: http://www.etonline.com/news/221869_aaron_carter_tearfully_reveals_he_has_an_eating_disorder_and_gets_face_fillers_exclusive/ Swears he just has an eating disorder and that he is not a meth head but was recently arrested on charges of 'possession of drug related objects'. Definitely one to watch.

I'm pretty sure that cannot be true (you must've heard at least some of his songs if not his name), although you could've been too young to remember it now. But if you really haven't, you didn't miss much.

Dunno how it was in Italy, but I couldn't avoid constantly listening to them in their heyday cause both radios and music TV channels (yes, they were a thing back then) were playing them ad nauseam (especially "Numb"). Repetitive choruses, shallow lyrics, cheap, poppy & "radio friendly" nu metal (NB = not metal). I guess their songs weren't that offensive but I hated them cause I had to listen to them way more often than I wanted to. Anyways, it's still quite a shock, he was much too young and I'm sorry for the six kids he left behind.

Just for a change, I go with McCain. Sure, Bush is frail and often looks a bit shit, but he doesn't have terminal cancer. I'd reckon he can last one or two years with a bit of luck. (And if Bush Sr. dies first I'd just pretend that I meant Dubya all along. :))

The statement released by his office seems to contradict you there, although the wording is a bit confusing:

Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets

I kind of disagree. I think the "best" possible scenario for DDP players having him (assuming he is already dead) is if his charred remains are eventually found (by the SDF capturing Raqqa) provided that his identity can be confirmed based on DNA evidence. Or if he is not dead yet and is killed during the last phases of the Battle of Raqqa. At that point, ISIS would have no other choice but to admit that he is dead, pick a new leader (lucrative if risky candidate for next year?) and vow to avenge his death. -
I have to concur with gcreptile on this – Clinton lost the election, she is probably too old and too unpopular (even with the Democrats) to be renominated, so she could not win much by getting him out of the way. Trump, on the other hand, would certainly have had incentives to prevent his "RussiaGate" from escalating further and his stupid aides from (mostly involuntarily) testifying against him. I think, there's already enough "material" on Trump and his staff so that Paul Ryan and the Republican establishment could successfully impeach him if they had the political will. But what they need to carefully consider is whether such a move would damage the GOP itself and question their legitimacy as well and whether they'd rather have Pence as president.

I knew you'd say that

Which would mean that it only counts if someone's terminal illness is not public knowledge when they die? Btw I'd reckon that Olivia's death would still have some shock value since her optimistic announcement ("some herbal tea, a few photons and I'll be fine") might make her fans believe that her cancer is not life threatening.
-
At 90, she'd be a fairly reasonable choice in a thematic DDP team, I never realized she's so much older than Sophia Loren. On the other hand, she's got two living sisters (b. 1924 & 1929) and still giving interviews – what do we know about her health?
-
Well, not really*. His biological mum was Diana Dill (died aged 92 in 2015), and he previously had stage IV tongue cancer (which might indicate that he inherited some bad genes from her mum, who died from cancer [and was a breast cancer survivor]). That being said, he is past the 5 year mark (in remission) now, so he might be considered cured. *Of course, his stepmum (Kirk's current wife) is still living, but that is totally irrelevant here.

I think that 2009 date was referring to when it was aired on a certain German (state?) TV channel, but you are right that she's likely dead. I guess this topic is gonna be obsolete in about 10 years at most, since even the youngest and longest-lived perpetrators would be dead for good by then.

Well, it's true that Björk's fame level exceeds Stefán's (and any other Icelander's), but (1) thanks god, she is unlikely to die in the near future (age 51, no terminal illness); (2) she was born in the capital, Reykjavík, where more than a third of the population lives. Stefán, on the other hand, is expected to expire pretty soon (this year), and was born in a smaller town called Hafnarfjörður, where he could be one of the most famous former residents (Gylfi Sigurðsson of Swansea might be the other one). And they would like to honour Stefán Karl, the actor; not Robbie Rotten, the cartoon figure. But since this petition was started by a guy from the UK, I'm not sure how much support they have in Iceland...

Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets

Tom actually has the 1st of July. And that seems just about reasonable, but I'll then go for July 2nd. (If he really is dead, they can't hold back the info for much longer.) -
I'm not sure about that. Cancer types are typically named after the organ they have originated from – and it could have been the bile duct in his case, from where the cancer grew into adjacent structures and metastasized. Cholangiocarcinomas, just like pancreatic cancers can be treated surgically through a Whipple procedure (Stefán had this as well), but since the former are comparetively rarer, some journalists could have guessed that he had the latter. Anyways, since his cancer is now stage IV, and his wife already told their kids that dad is gonna die soon, a cure would be nothing short of a miracle either way.

Yes, the prevalence of both (chronic) conditions increases with age. He had these black eyes for a while, although they've recently become slightly more prominent. Likely unrelated to what she gets from the missus.
-
What I'd like to know is what conditions their press release referenced as an 'infection' over a 'pre-existing condition'. I guess these might be a urinary tract infection and benign prostatic hyperplasia or prostate cancer, respectively. The first of these might be cleared with the help of antibiotics etc. but the latter one could be more or less worrying, depending on whether it's benign/indolent or malignant/aggressive.

Also bear in mind that it's inappropriate to use a "chanting priest with a cross on his hat emoticon" for celebrities that are either Jewish/Muslim/Zoroastrian/... or non-observant. And only use the "burning in hell" emoticon for paedophiles or mass murderers. And while at it, forget about these silly rules and use whatever you like and have fun.

Prince Phillip looks as fit as a 96-year-old will ever get. The bright sunlight seems to hurt the eyes of Charles and George, which might hint at refractory problems (or just light sensitivity).

They used to be on the deathist together in 2015, and while only Schmidt died, Kohl also had some "close calls" that year. (And at 87, he was almost a noneganerian, frail and wheelchair-bound – and seemed like one step from the grave, like George Bush Sr. now.) Kohl's death leaves Schröder as the only living ex-chancellor (Budeskanzler) – vs. 12 living ex-Prime ministers in Italy. Tells a lot about differences in political stability in the two countries.
