What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Angels replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Greta van Fleet. I heard their stuff for the first time only about two weeks ago, and I'm blown away. If you like classic rock, if you like Led Zeppelin, you might give Highway Tune or Safari Song a listen. -
I'm getting turned into creamed corn. It's fun, though, to watch the results play out of my name and position selection method (which were both done by rolls of the dice.) I would have been disappointed in getting any position but last!

The pick-a-random-name method yields Sandy Gall.

I predict he's going to cark it during the actual time the manchild is taking the oath.

Unless you are the Queen that is one of the most disturbing sentences I've ever read. You'd be surprised who's on here That explains his long reign at the DDP.

Kids today have other interests and so many other fun things to choose from. Parents dislike the animal abuse issues as well. Surprised circuses like this one have lasted so long. Not high-tech enough for many younger people. I honestly thought circuses were a thing that died out in the 80s, so I was surprised to see the news.

Stupid/funny/cool/outrageous/scary/weird/crazy Stuff You Read/saw In The News/on The Internet
Angels replied to Dr. Zorders's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Pff, what a dumb plot, it's too unbelievably unrealistic even for The Twilight Zone. There is no universe in which Americans are stupid enough to vote for such a total manchild for presid- oh shit. -
Thank you, The Dead Cow. Here's my randomly generated team, random both in names selected and in order listed. I expect to get last place in a fairly spectacular way, but we shall see. Wahey. 1) Lewis, Jerry 2) Scales, Prunella 3) Trump, Donald 4) Van der Westhuizen, Joost 5) Fawkes, Helen 6) Lynn, Vera 7) Karl Stefansson, Stefan 8) Skellern, Peter 9) Carter, Jimmy 10) Day, Doris 11) Kilmer, Val 12) Al-Baghdadi, Abu Bakr 13) Lamotta, Jake 14) Ricksen, Fernando 15) Sallis, Peter 16) James, Clive 17) Lee, Stan 18) de Havilland, Olivia 19) Michael I, King of Romania 20) Berkowitz, Daisy 21) Christie, Errol 22) Meads, Colin 23) Doherty, Shannen 24) Downie, Gord 25) Mugabe, Robert ... yep, it's a trainwreck.

I'm tempted to enter a list created by drawing the names randomly just to see how well such a list would do in competition, but for obvious reasons I fear it would fare badly and would therefore make more work for The Dead Cow than is necessary.

Spotted a trivial issue, TMIB. The Roman numerals on this should read XXI (21) and not XII (12)

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
Angels replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It's funny how many of those same 'sanctity of life' people are also OK with both the death penalty and with armed conflict. It sure looks like 'sanctity of life' isn't something that actually matters to them much after all. Seems that 'sanctity of life' isn't the actual reason after all - that's just what they say it is because it sounds a lot better than the much more honest 'in our religion, we hate it when women have autonomy.' -

Excellent, always fun to meet a fellow collector. What doll(s) did you collect? I tend to focus on 18" dolls like American Girl, Maplelea, etc, and to a lesser degree, 11 1/2" fashion dolls. If I had money, though, I'd collect those gorgeous late 1800s French dolls like Bru. The prices they sell for, though, make me wish the good Doc would be kind enough to lend me the Tardis for a bit so I could time travel back and buy these dolls new.

I COULD MURDER A GOOD CURRY.

I'm sorry that it's taken me this long to write up something in the intros thread. I honestly thought I had. Here's my official hello at last. I'm pushing 41, and I'm a non-surfer-girl who lives in Maui, Hawaii. I have a fairly weird mix of interests that includes Discworld, nonduality, Hawaiian music (Keali'i Reichel, Kuana Torres Kahele), Minecraft, collecting some types of dolls, and old cars (that is more of a drool-from-a-distance thing, sadly, but my dream car is a 1950 Buick.) I'm currently reading books by Rupert Spira and Adyashanti. I have actually been lurking here for several years. Yep, I know how creepy that sounds. The length of the time I've been lurking shows my appreciation of the particular atmosphere of the board, with its wry dry humor. Even though I obviously must enjoy the board a lot to stay with it for so long, I have never really joined in for a few reasons: 1) I have memory issues that make trying to put together a list unnecessarily difficult to do. 2) I'm a bit short on the ready wit and snappy comebacks that are such a trademark of the posters here. 3) Being non-British, a lot of stuff about people famous only in the UK is unfortunately a mystery to me. I picked my username with the idea of maybe having some sort of witty title under it at some point the way Time does.

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

Sorry to hear that. Are you physically ok? -
That's also probably going to mean the rapid intensifying of the death spirals of most of the malls those were anchor stores in, too.

How ya doing, Dr. Zorders?how do you know about zorders. I'm a longtime lurker of something like six+ years. I think I only finally made this account within the past year? I'd participate more if I could, but I don't make lists because I have memory issues that make doing that vastly more difficult than it needs to be. I lurk all the same because the snark and wit of the board is an entertaining read, and I definitely appreciate the Britishness of the atmosphere and humor. As for knowing about Zorders specifically, I'll put it this way: I was only surprised the ban was as long in coming as it was.

Not really, just saying one demographic of society (gay people) have reduced life expectancy (this is proven in science population journals). So makes more sense to monitor them. Not saying I hate them. How ya doing, Dr. Zorders?

A banker, you could say. Did you bank on him?

Hearing aids: I've known I'd need hearing aids someday for years, and that 'someday' has come, alas. That means it's research time. Does anyone here have them? If so, is there anything you think I should know about the process? Do you have opinions about bad brands/good brands; any red flags; things to look for in a hearing specialist, etc.?
