Kill or Save: UK No.3 Hits of the 80s

I've been very confused as to why everyone seems want rid of it. Very strange. -
Jermaine Jenas sacked with immediate effect by the BBC for "workplace behaviour". Has he been none too subtlely propositioning the production staff? Must be serious for immediate dismissal, or is this the BBC overreacting following the Edwards scandal? Good news overall in my book, supposedly they've been lining him up to replace Lineker, which I was not impressed with. Details, such as they currently are: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy76pdz5152o

Why would you not want it playing Murray Gold? His Doctor Who music is epic!!!! -
Oh well if Nadine Dorries supports her, I think that tells us everything we need to know about her innocence or guilt. (I still haven't got round to the documentary as yet).

"I'm so big and tough, some loser wannabe assassin can't stop me. You know, if he'd succeeded he'd have gone down in history as the most successful assassin in history. Would've killed the most popular President ever. Instead, thanks to GOD, I survived, barely, and now I'm back outside like nothing happened. The radical left won't win. They will make me stand in a big glass box like Howard Hughes though, but it's definitely not my choice. The Secret Service, who can't do their jobs properly and nearly caused me to be KILLED, have forced me behind this glass. It's definitely not because I'm terrified of all you real Americans now."

While I accept it's sad and a freak disaster, I don't have a huge amount of tragedy for a superyacht sinking in the Med. It apparently had a 72.5m mast, which was the second largest in the world when it was produced (might still be, superyachts aren't my forte funnily enough). Today, the experts are saying the height of the mast may have made the effects of the storm worse, which is something I'd already figured out yesterday. The bigger the stick in the air, the more of the wind it will catch and the more severe the effects will be. Turns out this particular penis enlargement may have cost him his life. Shame. As for the coincidence, God works in mysterious ways...

Next round (last of the qualifiers) looks decent but not the same quality as the last 2. Might not be quite as big a bunfight but I stand to be corrected. -

I actually enjoyed this game more than I thought I would, although I could have happily got rid of about half the songs in each round before we started, rather than each one taking a couple of months to play out. There are still some catchy songs out there, but the music is very different from the 80s and 90s stuff I've grown up with, even the 00s stuff. Still think the 80s is the best decade, as proven by the fight in the 80s No. 3s currently ongoing. -

As requested, posting this in the film thread. So...today I watched Mulholland Drive for the first time, my first David Lynch offering. It was on Film4 a while ago and I recorded it to watch as and when, which turned out to be today. I *think* I enjoyed it..? Very confusing and mysterious and I like my mysteries to have at least some semblance of an ending and explanation but, equally, I like the open-ended nature of it, and suspect I'll need to watch it again at some point to try and figure it out some more. The rest in the spoilers, just in case. -

Sounds flimsy to me. What if they split up in a year's time? He's just going to go back to representing Australia? Big decision to make because of a 21-year-old girl. In other words: I suspect there is more to it than that. -

Another good op‐ed piece in today's i on Farage's finances, detailing how it shows his boredom in his new role. This bit stood out, regarding his impact so far in Parliament (I assure you nothing here is going to surprise you): "As one MP of 650, the leader of the joint sixth-largest party in the Commons, he is perversely less special, less noticeable than he was as a gadfly outside Parliament, where he had no commitments, no expectations and few restrictions. He has spoken only twice in the Chamber, voted in two divisions, submitted no written questions and signed no early day motions. It is significant that when the Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, made a statement to MPs on 30 July on the stabbings in Southport, Farage left it to Lee Anderson to represent Reform. The leader posted a piece to camera on social media instead." Pathetic. -

Farage declares that the £97,000 sum from GB News is a gross sum paid not just for his presenting role, but for various services he provides. He also says its subject to VAT and varies monthly, so he's not earning £1m a year from GB News. He does realise these figures are updated regularly so we can check doesn't he..? Oh, and Jon Sopel on Twitter noted that business class flights to Milwaukee cost £4,000. So what did he spend the other £28,000 he spent in 4 days on his trip to see Donny on..? -

Nick Timothy has only been an MP since July. Previously he was Theresa May's Chief of Staff in Downing Street before he was forced out along with Fiona Hill over the dementia tax manifesto disaster in 2017 that lost her her majority. -

Sun 18 Aug 55 Gotye ft. Kimbra — Somebody That I Used To Know +4 01 OneRepublic — Counting Stars -6 Also astonished that's the second best song of the 00s #1s. It didn't do that well in its heat did it? Those scores were fucking nonsense. Sorry.
