Within 4 years, 18 people out of 10 768, or 0.167%, have died. I don't see a curse here and I'm sure the numbers were similar for all previous Olympics. France is just more sensitive towards Olympic athlete deaths since the helicopter crash last year.

As for me, Diski is the only (near-)certainty. Then there are a few cancer patients who might hold on (Bain, Chong, Kilmer, Wetton), a few ALS sufferers who are also likely to see 2017 (Frates, Ricksen, vd Westhuizen) and Gino Odjick, who seems to be recovering from amyloidosis and is probably a wasted pick.
