  1. I actually saw an episode of an old anthology type horror show on Amazon Prime called 'The Veil' about 2 weeks ago - it was one of those old shows (1958) starring and introduced by Boris Karloff.  He was in the first episode with Karloff and another death list alumni Patrick Macnee.  I didn't really recognise him as I'd only seen in him stuff from the late 70s onwards.  I did recognise his voice and saw his credit on IMDB!

Just shows how long he has been acting..From acting with Boris Karloff to Harry Potter!

  2. RIP Deborah.  A good companion sometimes underrated by fans. A pity a lot of her episodes are missing but glad that 9 did turn up in 2013 - at least she saw her dad again acting alongside her in The Web Of Fear. Hopefully more of her stories will show up soon..

Also another guest star now gone from Rising Damp...:(

BTW it's been a while since a Doctor Who companion has died hasn't it?  There was that period where Elizabeth Sladen, Nicholas Courtney, Caroline John and Mary Tamm died (2011-2012?) but none since.

  3. What about James Lovelock?  Scientist, environmentalist and futurist who came up with the 'Gaia hypothesis'.  Will be 99 next year (DOB 26 July 1919) and looks like a typical Deathlist candidate probably coming in under the top 40 mark.

Also Ian Holm and Joss Ackland would be good picks IMO.

  4. RIP to a great actor with a fine repertoire that went on for decades.  Really the last of the 'Last of The Summer Wine' main cast to pass away as well.

He did reach a great age though and sadly lost his wife of nearly 60 years last year so I kind of expected this.  I watched Dr Who - The Ice Warriors the other day which he was in starring with Patrick Troughton. Peter was only a year younger then Patrick but outlived him by 30 years and looked like he would go on forever.

Also one of the top ones on the list has finally gone so the record could be broken now in 2017..

  5. I always preferred Roger Moore's Bond films overall over Connery but its close.  The Spy Who Loved Me is probably my favourite Bond film of all.

RIP to a great actor and also a very decent person (he was involved in many charities e.g. - spoke out against foie gras and the cruelty inflicted to make it.

I did say once that I thought both Roger and Sean would die within a year of each other but I didn't really think Roger would go first.

  6. He should have died over 50 years ago.  His continued existence only further tortured the victim's poor families with a lingering hope that he may, just once in his evil pathetic life, have some compassion in him and show where his victim's bodies were buried and allow them to bury their loved one's remains.  Of course, he did no such thing.

Hope hell is a very hot place.

  7. RIP Geoffrey Bayldon.  He did last a very long time when you consider most of the rest of the Catweazle cast.  93 is a great age - I've noticed recently how many parts he had in horror films - he was in Horror of Dracula in 1958 and also noticed he was in The House that Dripped Blood from 1971.  He was one of the last surviving cast members from either film.  Also got to the same age of Christopher Lee who co-starred in both..

  8. Great list there mcs!  Some very noteworthy and 'Deathlisty' names on there.  Also loved the  Geoffrey “Utter Living Legend” Bayldon (1924) caption .

I think from that list Dudley Simpson should make a good pick next year just due to his age - 96.  Also Geoffrey Palmer could be a decent pick as well as William Russell and Bayldon (although I hope they all see 100!).

  9. Yep - Happy Birthday Vera!:birthday:

I'm glad she got to 100.  She seems like one of the last prominent people from World War 2 still alive.  I watched the documentary 'World At War' recently (highly recommended if you haven't already seen it) and I think she was the last interviewee still alive from the whole 26 episodes - it was filmed in the late 60s/early 1970s if I'm remembering correctly.

  10. RIP to an actor who starred in some great films.  Apart from Aliens (and his cameo in The Terminator), Frailty was also a good film - also made a good performance as the sergeant in Edge of Tomorrow.  It is indeed, 'game over' for Bill

  11. Good list but taking off both Clive James and Prunella Scales may be a mistake. Still no Geoffrey Bayldon I see as well!

Surprised Peter Sallis is so high up but he is really getting up there in years and has survived a lot of people expectations.

I really can't see Kirk Douglas and Billy Graham lasting much longer - I'd be surprised if they see July really..

  12. I think by 2018 a couple of Dr Who names could be added. Tom Baker will be 84 and William Russell will be 94 - I'd put Tom on as from reports he didn't have exactly the healthiest of lifestyles when he was younger.

Maybe Brian Blessed as well? I'd also start to look at some of the last living hell raisers like Ozzy and some of the Rolling Stones - can't see them all lasting until 2019.

I'd also put both Roger Moore and Sean Connery on. Albert Finney should also be a reasonable pick I would have thought...
