Ardico Magnini, who played for Italy at the 1954 World Cup, has died aged 91. Born in Pistoia, the defender made his debut with hometown club Pistoiese in 1947 before moving to Fiorentina three years later. He made 78 appearances for his hometown team, scoring 13 goals. He would make 225 appearances (6 goals) for Fiorentina, being a part of the Viola side who captured the Scudetto in 1956. After leaving Fiorentina in 1958, he joined Genoa where he made 26 appearances, scoring twice before retiring in 1960. His passing means only three survive of Italy's 1954 squad managed by Lajos Czeizler. Emeka Mamale, who played for the Democratic Republic of Congo at three African Nations Cups in 1996 [under the name of Zaire], 1998 and 2000 [as Congo DR], has died aged 42. Pierino Prati, a striker who was part of the squad that reached the final of the World Cup in 1970, but never played a minute, has died of cancer aged 73. Perhaps most famous for his time at Milan between 1966 and 1973 where he scored 72 goals in 143 outings for them and Roma where he scored 28 goals in 82 matches. His club career also saw him feature for Fiorentina, Savona and Salernitana, the latter of whom he began his career. Carlos Luis Morales, who had 40 caps for Ecuador in an international career that lasted from 1987 through to 1999 has died of cardiopulmonary arrest aged 55. He represented the national side at three Copa America tournaments in 1987, 1989 and 1995 and during his club career, he played for Barcelona [Not that one] for ten years until 1993 before leaving for Argentine side Independiente. After leaving Independientehe signed for LDU Portoviejo before returning to Barcelona then moving on again to another big Ecuadorian side in Emelec, he then joined Chileans Palestino before finishing his playing career at lower-league sides ESPOLI and Santa Rita. Parviz Aboutaleb, who briefly managed the Iran national team in 1982, has died aged 78. https://www.tehrantimes.com/news/448706/Ex-Iran-coach-Parviz-Aboutaleb-passes-away In his playing career, he represented Rah Ahan from 1958-60 before moving to Deyhim for a year before playing for Taj, later Esteghlal between 1961 and 1967. He managed various age-group teams including Iran's Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 sides before his stint with the senior national side.

He made 350 appearances for CSKA, scoring two goals and for the national team, he was capped 51 times.

Pedro Pablo León, a member of the Peru squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, has died aged 76. He played in all four of Peru's matches at the tournament and scored 15 goals in 49 appearances for the national team. Chung Hae-won, a striker for South Korea at the 1990 World Cup, has died of liver cancer - https://www.yna.co.kr/view/AKR20200501058000007 [Korea obit] Chung, who was 60, played in two AFC Asian Cups in 1980 and 1988 and saw South Korea finish as runners-up on both occasions to Kuwait in 1980 and Saudi Arabia in 1988. He also played for his country at their home Olympic Games in Seoul where they drew with eventual Gold Medallists USSR, who boasted Alexei Mikhailichenko and Dmitry Kharine in their squad. In 58 caps for South Korea he scored 21 goals and also won the Asian Champions League with Daewoo Royals in 1986.

Jacques Vendroux, a French journalist with permission from the family to announce the death of Robert Herbin - Herbin, who was 81, had two spells as manager of Saint-Etienne. His first, between 1972 and 1983 saw them collect four French titles and three French Cups and also saw his side finish as runners-up to Bayern Munich in Glasgow in 1976 in what was the final of Bayern's three successive European Cup wins in that era under Dettmar Cramer. As a player, he also won five French titles and three French Cups with Saint-Etienne. He was involved in 9/10 of Saint-Etienne's title-winning teams as a player and manager and won all 6 of their French Cups and 4/5 of their French Super Cups.
