Here he is comparing the Capitol storm to the Kristallnacht:

The signs of age are coming fast. But otherwise, he seems okay for now.

I think it was more comparable to when Hitler burned down the Reichstag but the principl;e is the same. People used to laugh when Trump was compared to Hitler. They're not laughing now ...

I put Trump on my death list - maybe an outside chance, but the guy really has hit rock bottom and he is totally insane! If somebody doesn't take him out, he may take care of it himself-

I seriously think he could be suicidal right now.Losing his twitter account will be a traumatic event for him.I was kicked off twitter once and I was very depressed for a while. Apparantely he has talked about killing himself in the past.Lets just hope he doesn't decide to take the rest of the planet with him though !

Please don't laugh at this question, but is it possible to impeach a President even after they've left office? If so Trump could be first (ex) President to be impeached twice !

Turns out my question wasn't as ridiculous as some people  thought ! Apparantely it might be possible to hold an impeachment trial in the senate AFTER  Trump leaves office, if he is impeached by the House of Representatives before he leaves...https://news.yahoo.com/trump-tried-senate-impeachment-charges-212540352.html And as the democrats will control the senate after jan 20 they can call whatever witnesses they want etc. The republicans blocked it first time round of course.

I have a bad feeling something bad will happen between now and the 20th.

You mean something worse than inciting a mob of mad racist thugs to storm the Houses of Congress and forcing armed police and SWAT teams to protect the lives of Congressmen and women? The only thing he could do worse than that would be to press the nuclear button! Surely they wont let him do that....will they?

Now what is he going to do, make press statements on official social media (such as White House) like any normal politician?

Apparantely he s going  to create an account on Parlor, which is a right wing Trump supporting equivalent of twitter,  but Google and Apple are now banning it from their  devices , and I assume other companies will follow suit, so he probably isnt going to get 88 million followers in a hurry !

I shouldn't really gloat too much about all those outraged right wingers who are angrily tweeting  about  their MAGA movement falling apart, but what the hell ! :lol:B)

Just in - the team trump account has also just been banned by twitter after Donald Trump tried to tweet from it.. https://twitter.com/TeamTrump Steve Bannon has been banned from youtube in the last hour. The rout of the right wing on social media is underway tonight it seems !

Melania Trump has started sounding suspiciously like her husband.I think twitter might want to look into that account as well...

To be fair, if Iain were to wish death on everyone who has called him a dickhead Rush Limbaugh probably wouldn't make the top 10.

When so many people chose him for 1st death of the year I thought maybe he's a lot closer to death than I thought but it seems to just be wishful thinking/.Only the good die young.Limbaugh is the son of Satan so will probably live to be 120.

Only because he's realised he's gone too far and there are consequences. He's trying to save his own skin as per usual. This was the speech that he needed to make yesterday. Damage is done. And when he realises that, is he really going to change? Listening to some of the Republicans in Congress, it's already business as usual again.

How much money do you want to put on him being back to tweeting hate filled conspiracy theory garbage by sunday...^_^ Let's hope he becomes the first President in history to be impeached for a 2nd time before Jan 20 !

I think that photo is from circa July 2019 so not recent.

@msc posted a photo from circa December on the previous page.

Come to think of it they're not very socially distanced in that pic are they.Must be pre covid...

  9. The fear is that now that Trumps coup attempt has failed he might strike out in other ways. He's a m ad wounded beast right now, esp if h is twitter account is permanently suspended today. There is talk he could order a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities for example, possibly using tactical nukes.Would the US military go along with such an order? The world is in for a scary 2 weeks  that's for sure !

BREAKING-Donald Trump has just finally conceded defeat and pledged an orderly transfer of power to Joe Biden.following US Congress certifying Biden as the winner. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/01/07/congress-riots-senate-georgia-result-donald-trump-capitol-latest/

Twitter, Instagram and Facebook have suspended Trump's accounts

It damn well better be permanent- twitter have enabled this crook for the last 5 years. The twitter CEO   should maybe be charged with aiding and abetting a coup attempt along with Trump and his supporters !

By the way if you still support Donald Trump and what he stands for after this you're either a crook or a mad person !

Don't insult my intelligence. I've got two degrees myself, one in History and Politics and an M.A. in History. I don't throw my education around, it's not necessary to do so. I'm perfectly aware of Godwin's Law and assumed that would be the thing to pick up on. I do not expect American democracy to crumble overnight, but if you think everything is tickety-boo with US institutions at this moment in time, then I would suggest you look a bit closer. Public trust in their institutions is at an all-time low, misinformation is rampant. The divide between left and right has been larger before but the animosity and distrust that both sides feel towards each other is worse than it's been in years - remember in other significant crises like Watergate, even the majority of Republicans believed Nixon was guilty. The partisanship that emerged in the 90s with Clinton and Gingrich has been ramped up by perceived, or real, injustices, particularly since the 2008 financial crash. In 2008, Obama was elected and Palin was unleashed onto the national stage. In 2010, the Tea Party became a political force. By 2012, Birtherism was a thing, despite Obama releasing his entire birth certificate. In 2016, Trump won the Republican nomination and then the presidency. In 2020, Trump supporters refuse to accept the result of the election and storm the Capitol Building. Trump isn't disappearing any time soon. Is that not a pattern? He'll have plenty to say post-presidency, whether that's with his TV Network or wherever. His supporters won't disappear, because this isn't just about Trump. It's about QAnon, it's about anti-vaxxers and coronavirus. It's about all these myriad of reasons why people feel violated or disenfranchised.

You're right, the United States will most likely survive. It is a 'very resilient country with a strong democracy and strong institutions'. But it still had to fight a Civil War 150 years ago (the flag of the secessionists made it into the Capitol Building for the first time in history today). It also survived the 1960s, but not without the death of a President, a frontrunning candidate and 2 iconic civil rights leaders. I wouldn't consider that a particularly stable democracy. I sincerely hope that this is the watershed. The dying of the light. The point where those who have been ambivalent about Trump and his antics draw the line and say 'no more'. But the fact it got to this point is itself damning. I wish I could just laugh it off and dismiss it as you do. But haven't we laughed off enough in the past decade plus and ended up at this point?

    I agree

  12. According to April Ryan Congress are meeting to remove Trump from office right now ! This has backfired on him big time, or bigly as he would say ! If he is removed by the 25th Amendment does that bar him from ever being able to run for President again?

The situation in the Capitol is under control now and they’ve all been ejected from the building. The National Guard are there in big numbers and the proceedings of the House are set to continue.

Nothing to see here etc etc. The media have nothing else to report on at the moment so they’re stirring and sensationalising this to no end. Just like they did with the BLM stuff. They love to build unrest stories up in the hope that others watching will join in. That way it keeps the story running for days for them, though likely nothing significant will happen. One random woman shot and killed. So what? Happens every time there’s a major protest but the sun will still rise tomorrow and Biden will be inaugurated and nothing will really change.

A lot of the members on this forum need to calm down and stop playing into the hands of the media all the time.

Yes, it would appear that Donald Trumps coup attempt was as big a failure as the rest of his Presidency !
