    Liz Truss

In many ways the case of Truss is more fascinating than any of them. How did someone so obviously deficient and ill-equipped to be Prime Minister come to hold the highest office in the land? It's a question that deserves serious analysis to prevent future Liz Trusses becoming Prime Minister in the future.

    Liz Truss

I know a number of people close to her and I have no doubt that she genuinely considers that she did an excellent job as PM and if only she'd had an opportunity to continue she'd have been more popular than Churchill. The delusion is very strong here.

    Liz Truss

Yes, the current Liz probably considers Theresa May, David Cameron and John Major to be socialists and the entire City of London to be "woke Marxists".

    Faye Dunaway

60s and 70s Hollywood star and Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway is 80 today. The star of The Thomas Crown Affair, Bonnie & Clyde, The Towering Inferno and Network has no thread so time to rectify that.

Confirms that she's both bipolar and an alcoholic in a new Netflix documentary https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/features/faye-dunaway-documentary-interview-uk-b2590163.html

    British Character Actors

RIP. She was brilliant in my favourite Inspector Morse episode "Second Time Around" which also featured Kenneth Colley (born 1937), Ann Bell (born 1938) and Oliver Ford Davies (born 1939) who are all still going well into their mid 80s. Unusually by Morse standards, the cast of that episode has had decent longevity as Jenny Laird and Helena Mccarthy both lived to be 89.

That's young for a tennis player of his era!

    Disc Jockeys

He said that he had prostate cancer around 15 years ago, they caught it early and he has recovered. He sounded and looked fine to me.

Whispering Bob Harris talking about his recovery from prostate cancer at the Test match in tribute to Bob Willis. Looking and sounding pretty good.

    Horse Racing

A shame but 32 is a very good age for a horse especially a National Hunt horse. I can only think of Hallo Dandy and Spanish Steps who have lived longer.

    The Boys Of '66

Certainly for the players who played in the final. I think Sepp Maier may give him a run for his money for the final two squads as he appears in decent shape.

Hurst looks and sounds very good for his age in this video https://x.com/TheGeoffHurst/status/1812907363457708167

    Liz Truss

She does get a generous allowance for the rest of her days being a former Prime Minister plus security detail.

    Michael Schumacher

Maybe this had something to do with Ralf Schumacher coming out and was nothing to do with Michael at all? Not a "terrible secret" but obviously very personal.

    Liz Truss

This is something a lot of people who know her have said for several years. Many of them also helped make her Prime Minister while knowing this.

    32. Norman Tebbit

At least Tebbit can now die safe in the knowledge that his old seat of Chingford has stayed Conservative (very surprisingly on this occasion as well). Which is more than you can say for the seat he actually lives in. It's also more than you can say of his contemporaries Hurd and Heseltine who have lived long enough to see Witney and Henley go Liberal Democrat respectively.

New 4 July celebration photos here. Clearly she's still able to get around without major mobility issues https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-13601397/Shirley-MacLaine-90-lunch-Malibu-friend.html

    Thelma Barlow

Technically a Dinnerladies co-star. I remember Judy Flynn as the secretary from The Brittas Empire. Her catchphrase was "I'm busy" as she filed her nails.

    Thelma Barlow

She's doing an interview on Good Morning Britain about now. Was talking in the interview about how she does yoga (in the film) and pilates (in real life). She didn't appear happy to return to Coronation Street for a one off cameo which Ed Balls suggested.
