Fico now claiming he'll be back at work in a few weeks time. Looks like he's making a good recovery https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/jun/05/shot-slovakian-pm-robert-fico-could-return-to-work-within-weeks

Willie Carson (82 in November) with Giles Brandreth at the Derby today. Carson should hopefully have several more Derby days to enjoy based on this.

Gale and Bottomley are both at risk of losing based on recent polls.

So with Schnellinger dead, only Schultz, Weber, Held and Overath for Sir Geoff to outlive to be the last man standing from the final. Can he do it?

Actually I think Anne looks younger! -
Saw Knopfler give a BBC TV interview recently and I thought he looked and sounded fine for someone his age. Phil Collins is a better candidate or Ossie Osborne.

Timothy is still looking fairly robust for someone who will be 90 later this year. Both could easily pass for ten years younger than they both are.

Here's one of Prunella, Timothy and Gyles Brandreth also from today

Pictured with Queen Camilla today. She's beginning to look very confused but still looks pretty good for a nonagenarian who has had dementia for twenty plus years.

I meant more in terms of the circumstances. The Wallace assassination attempt was four shots to the chest and abdomen. Wallace was touch and go for a while and needed a five hour operation to survive. Sounds very similar circumstances to this situation.

Something of the George Wallace scenario about all this.

Presumably a nod to his love for ecology.

Apparently his Deputy has just claimed he is expected to survive.

Famous for the election slogan "Breed for Cornwall"

In contrast, the folks behind them don't look too lively.

Not sure if Kenneth Baker counts (Minister of State for Industry from 1981) but he's still doing interviews in support of Rishi Sunak

Ruth Bader Ginsburg lasted a good while with it but agreed. The fact they never announced the type of cancer feels ominous given that pancreatic is known to be the worst type to get.

A very impressive list. One has to say those born in the 1940s and beyond are generally holding up pretty well, so far. Does anyone know if Leonard Preston (who was the main star of one of the more memorable Tales of the Unexpected Episodes) but doesn't appear to be on your list is still alive? He appears to be born in 1954 but very little public information available perhaps due to this https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/4425580

Random fact, MJK Smith is Lord (Seb) Coe's father in law.
