I wish you luck. This is a brave undertaking and the basic idea is intriguing. My constructive critism would be to 2nd rockhopperpenguin's remarks. I read though the rules a number of times and you lost me more than once. It just seems overly complex whether that is because it is complex or the way its been outlined.

Just checked out my list on the new look website. Very nice work TMIB. How Ivor Bell is a unique pick I have no idea but there we go. Only one thing though, I put Joe Jackson (Michael Jackson's father) on my list and its been put down as a different Joe Jackson. I'm guessing there is no way to change that now...

One thing I do find odd about the queen's health is that for some time, she's needed a knee op. The excuse that has been given is that she does not want to neglect her public duties by having time off to have the op and recoup. I certainly find something awry about that. My gut and experience makes me think there is concerns that they put her under and she's not coming out of it.

Hate to break it to ya, but he died on New Year's Eve. Bah humbug, such a noob mistake to make. Sorry to get all your hopes up.

I'm going to be bold and say this our first celeb cancer death of the year. William Christopher RIP

Haha I love that 'completely evaded my search terms' that's how I feel, I wonder how they were located. I still have zero idea how anyone searches gofundme or Twitter etc looking for someone mentioning 'dying' or 'stage 4' or whatever. But it must be possible. SC This is how

I sent my team in just prior to Christmas and got my confirmation New Year's Eve if that's a help. Plus before I got my confirmation he said he had processed 200 teams. Fair play to the guy, I couldn't do his job.

It's the age they will be on the birthday they have during 2017. Maybe its about time we updated the code to be a bit more precise... Ah, makes sense. If this is the same code that is making the dead age too, I'd agree. Amusing as it is, I don't think the Queen Mum was 116 when she died.

Nice looking list. Forgive me if this is a newb questions but why is everyone's age off? Kirk Douglas only turned 100 less than a month ago.

The Queen is still ill

2017 will be my 1st year in play so noob question. I only submitted one sub and he is now in play because of a death in the main 20. Should I submit other sub now or wait and see if another name is needed? I don't mind either way. I just didn't think I'd need more than one sub given when I submitted my list.

Has there ever been a year where the top five have gone? That could be an interesting twist.

I've gone with None of the Above even though it seems a few people went over Christmas. My reason is I can imagine the workload peeps like TMIB would have sorting out everyone's 2017 teams if someone like Kirk Douglas went now. So just for their sake, let this be it.

So, How's Your 2017 Shortlist Looking?

I submitted my list with only one sub because I naively thought "what are the chances of someone croaking within the next week?" So if someone else goes, I need to submit another name. -

Could I get the advice of some DDP veterans. I'm currently looking for a replacement sub for my 1st ever DDP list. My one of my 20 did not make the starting line. Knowing my luck I'm going to wake up on New Year's Day with an email from TMIB saying another one went and I need to give him another name. I have a pick in mind. When their illness ended their career and was announced it was made the news websites of half a dozen news sources so I am confident he will obit. However, none of sites were websites that DDP accept. Would this imply that when their death comes it will be the same story? -
Anyone with Piers Sellers on their 2017 list, you need a sub. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38424071

I'm working on my first ever list after watching the site from the shadows for quite a few years. Been a tough one. I'm trying to get a balance of people from various fields and generations but its tough to cull my list. One moment I'm thinking, Person A is good shot because of their age then I think Person B is a better choice because they have an chronic illness known to knock a few years off. Definitely will have to look at a theme list just to get some of them off the main one. -
69 pages is a lot to go through so I'm sorry if someone has already mentioned this. John Williams, composer, will turn 85 on February 8. There have been a few articles about his health (nothing concrete) but those problems forced him to pull out of writing the scores for Bridge of Spies and the new Star Wars Rogue One. In the case of Bridge of Spies, it was the first Spielberg since 1985 not to feature a score by Williams. However, he did appear at Tanglewood earlier this year (which for the non-musical among you is summer training program for aspiring young musicians) and confirmed he'll be doing the next Star Wars. So, it could be that it was a minor health issue associated with reaching a certain age and that he will have the same longevity as Elliott Carter.
